Lahore: The Punjab government has announced that all services on the e-Biz Portal will be available exclusively online from February 1, eliminating the need for citizens to visit government offices.
The move is part of Chief Minister Punjab’s digital governance vision, under which the government has set a target to expand the number of services on the e-Biz Portal to 310 by March, significantly widening access to public services through a single digital platform.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the Administrative Secretaries’ Committee, chaired by Chief Secretary Punjab Zahid Akhtar Zaman at the Civil Secretariat on Friday, where key initiatives to accelerate e-governance across the province were reviewed.
The meeting assessed progress on the e-Biz Portal, implementation of the e-Filing and Office Automation System (e-FOAS) and overall administrative reforms. The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) was formally directed to achieve the March target of 310 services on the portal.
Chairing the meeting, the Chief Secretary said that Punjab government’s IT-driven reforms had become a successful model for transparency and efficiency in public administration. He directed that following successful implementation at departmental level, field offices and attached institutions must also be shifted to e-FOAS, enabling faster decision-making.
‘Digitization of administrative processes will free citizens from repeated visits to government offices,’ the Chief Secretary said, praising PITB’s performance and describing the success of e-Biz and e-FOAS as the result of effective teamwork.
Briefing the meeting, the Chairman PITB said that 210 services from 15 departments are currently available on the e-Biz Portal. He added that the portal has received 17,622 applications so far, with more than 14,500 cases processed and approved digitally through the system.
The meeting was attended by the Additional Chief Secretary, Chairman PandD, Senior Member Board of Revenue, and all administrative secretaries. The Additional Chief Secretary (South Punjab), all divisional commissioners, and deputy commissioners participated via video link.
