LDA seals another 82 properties

Lahore: Lahore Development Authority (LDA) sealed another 82 properties during its ongoing daily operation against illegal commercial constructions and fee defaulters here on Monday. Following the direction of LDA DG Tahir Farooq, a major operation carried across various areas in the city. LDA teams sealed 37 properties in Allama Iqbal Town, while over 30 properties were sealed in Shadman and New Muslim Town.

Additionally, 15 illegal commercial properties were sealed in Model Town Extension and Faisal Town. The sealed properties included private schools, food points, shops, pharmacies, offices, and other commercial establishments. These properties had been issued multiple notices before the operation, but remained non-compliant with the regulations. The operation was carried out under the supervision of Chief Town Planner-I, Asad-ul-Zaman.

Iranian Armed Forces Chief calls on President Zardari

Islamabad: Chief of General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Dr Mohammad Bagheri on Monday called on President Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadr and exchanged views on matters of bilateral importance.

During the meeting, both sides highlighted the longstanding and fraternal relations between Pakistan and Iran, and emphasised the need to promote trade and economic relations for the mutual benefit of the two brotherly countries.

It was also highlighted that terrorism was a shared challenge and both countries needed to take effective and coordinated measures to address this challenge, President Secretariat Press Wing said in a press release.

The Iranian armed forces chief appreciated Pakistan's stance on Gaza and Lebanon.

OGDCL boosts oil production at Pasakhi-7, begins gas supply from Chak 212-1

Islamabad: The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has achieved significant milestones in its production and exploration activities, further cementing its position as Pakistan's leading energy company.

OGDCL has announced significant progress in its production and exploration activities, further strengthening its role as Pakistan's leading energy company said a news release issued by the OGDCL here on Monday.

Enhanced production at Pasakhi-7 Well OGDCL has successfully optimized oil production from the Pasakhi-7 well in Hyderabad district, Sindh.

The well is part of the Pasakhi Development and Production Lease (D and PL), where OGDCL holds a 100% working interest.

As part of its optimization efforts, OGDCL deployed a rig to replace the tubing and re-complete the well using an artificial lift system (Jet Pump).

The Company introduced Multiphysio Chemical Stimulation technology, marking its first use in the Southern Region.

These measures have increased production at Pasakhi Well-7 from 375 barrels per day (BPD) to 520 BPD, an increase of 145 BPD.

Commenced production from Chak 212-1 Well OGDCL has begun gas production from Chak 212-1 exploratory well in the Mari East Block, located in Rahim Yar Khan district, Punjab.

It is the first-ever discovery in the Mari East Block. With the successful installation of a 4"-14.5 km flow line from the well site to the Maru-1 facility, gas from Chak 212-1 is now being supplied to M/s Engro Fertilizer.

Currently, 2.0 MMSCFD gas is being supplied. These achievements reflect OGDCL's commitment to optimizing production and delivering energy solutions to meet Pakistan's growing needs.

BHC’s three Additional Judges take oath

Quetta: Balochistan High Court (BHC)'s three Additional Judges including Muhammad Najmuddin Mengal, Muhammad Ayub Tareen and Muhammad Asif Reki took oath,on Monday.

Chief Justice of Balochistan High Court Justice Muhammad Hashim Khan Kakar administered the oath to the three additional judges at the BHC Quetta.

The oath-taking ceremony was attended by Balochistan High Court judges, Supreme Court Bar Association President Mian Rauf Atta Advocate, High Court Registrar Jan Muhammad Gohar, Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan, Balochistan High Court Bar President Mir Attaullah Lango, Pakistan Bar Council Member Munir Ahmed Kakar Advocate, Zahoor Mengal Advocate, Muhammad Ali Kakar Advocate, Abdul Sadiq Khilji Advocate, Syed Saleem Akhtar Advocate, Khalid Khan Kakar Advocate, Tariq Butt Advocate, Nadir Chhalgari Advocate, Bakhtiar Bazai Advocate, law officers, lawyers and a large number of journalists.

Motorcyclist killed in firing incident

Karachi: One person was killed in a firing incident that occurred near Nipa Pull area of Karachi, tv channels quoting police reported on Monday.

According to details, unknown assailant opened fire and killed a motorcyclist crossing the Nipa Pull area of Karachi.

The police reached the site and shifted the body of ill-fated person identified as Zubair to nearby hospital.

Police are investigating the matter.

Sindh Health minister dismisses reports of COVID-19 spread in Karachi

Karachi: Sindh Minister for Health Azra Pechuho dismissed the news of the spread of COVID-19 in Karachi, terming it false.

Dr Azra said upon testing more than 100 people, seven were found positive for COVID-19.

She said that corona virus tests were conducted as a precautionary measure on people with seasonal flu and influenza.

"COVID-19-positive individuals has very mild flu-like symptoms. Due to mild symptoms, individuals infected with Covid-19 were sent home," the minister said, adding that the contagious disease was now being treated like the flu worldwide.

"COVID-19 is now like a seasonal flu, there is absolutely no need to panic," Dr Azra maintained.

Meanwhile, the Sindh Health Department has directed all the district health offices to implement measures to prevent surge in COVID-19 and H1N1 influenza cases across the province.

Viewing the ongoing winter season and the diseases' spread, the health department said that the implementation of the urgent measures were imperative to keep the upsurge and further transmission.
