Cath lab to be established at DHQ Dera: Dr Farrukh

Dera ismail khan: In a move to enhance cardiac care for heart patients of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Southern districts, a cardiac catheterization laboratory (Cath lab) is being established at District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ), Dera Ismail Khan.

Talking to reporter, Hospital Director Dr Farrukh Jameel informed that the tender process for the installation of the facility has been initiated. This new cath lab, he said, will offer life-saving procedures like angiography, angioplasty and Cardiac bypass.

Earlier, Dr. Farrukh said the southern districts were lacking these facilities and the cardiac patients of these areas were referred to big cities like Islamabad, Peshawar and Multan for these procedures.

The infrastructure for this project is near to completion and the facility would be made operational within three months, he mentioned.

He said 'Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur is personally interested for early completion of this project.'

Japanese Ambassador inaugurates solar-powered irrigation project in Narowal

Islamabad: Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan, Akamatsu Shuichi on Wednesday inaugurated a solar-powered irrigation system in Tehsil Shakar Garh, District Narowal.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Akamatsu commended the NGO for successfully completing the initiative. He expressed hope that the project would enhance agricultural productivity, improve farmers' livelihoods, and contribute positively to the local economy.

Reaffirming Japan's commitment to supporting Pakistan's development, the ambassador emphasized that such efforts would strengthen the bonds between the two nations.

The project, funded under Japan's Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) Program, received financial support amounting to $65,617. The funds were utilized to install seven solar-powered irrigation pumps, ensuring efficient and sustainable irrigation in the region.

The project, managed by Rural Aid Pakistan, a non-governmental organization, aims to combat poverty and empower vulnerable rural communities through sustainable development. It has been actively working for over three decades, implementing various projects in collaboration with government departments and international donors.

This initiative is expected to improve the agricultural environment, increase crop yields, and boost the incomes of local farmers. The ceremony was attended by representatives of Rural Aid Pakistan, local government officials, community leaders, and farmers.

Police Head constable martyred in DI Khan


Dera ismail khan: A policeman was shot dead by unknown miscreants here on Diyal road in the limits of Cantt police station on Wednesday morning.



According to details, 40-years-old police head constable-Arshad Baloch son of Shahjahan was on his return to home after dropping his children to school on a motorcycle when unknown miscreants sprayed him with bullets on Diyal road.



As a result, the head constable got seriously injured and was rushed to District Headquarters hospital, Dera Ismail Khan where he succumbed to his injuries.



Arshad Baloch was deputed at Shorkot police station.



Later, the funeral prayer for the martyred police head constable was offered with official protocol here at Ejaz Shaheed Police Lines, Dera Ismail Khan.



The funeral were attended by District Police Officer Dera Sajjad Ahmed Sahibzada, SSP Security Abdul Samad Khan, SSP Investigation Muzammil Shah, SP CTD Iftikhar Ali Shah, SP City Tayyab Jan, SP Special Branch, SP Headquarters Muhammad Nawab, ASP Suburb Muhammad Noman, DSPs, Secretary DRC Muhammad Nawaz Mehsud, besides a large numbers of people hailing from different segments of the society.



A contingent of police presented guard of honor to the martyred cop while special prayers were also offered for the departed soul.



Later, the martyr was laid to rest in his native village Basti Maheer with full honors.

Dr. Nafisa Shah elected as Chairperson of Gender Mainstreaming Committee


Islamabad: The National Assembly Special Committee on Gender Mainstreaming unanimously elected Dr. Nafisa Shah as its chairperson on Wednesday at Parliament House.



Member National Assembly (MNA) Syed Hussain Tariq proposed Dr. Nafisa Shah as Chairperson of the Special Committee, with Shaista Pervaiz and other MNAs and Senators supporting the proposal.



Dr. Nafisa Shah, MNA, thanked the committee members for their trust and support in her new role.



Committee members congratulated Dr. Nafisa Shah on her election as chairperson and pledged their full support for advancing gender mainstreaming.



Earlier, MNA Aqeel Malik resigned as committee chair due to personal commitments and highlighted key issues related to gender mainstreaming.



Thereafter, Muhammad Mushtaq, Advisor (Legislation) briefed the committee about the procedure for election of the Chairperson.



The meeting was attended by Aqeel Malik, Syed Hussain Tariq, Sher Ali Arbab, Shaista Pervaiz and Shahida Begum, MNAs, and Senators Rubina Qaim Khani, Saadia Abbasi and Khalida Ateeb.
