Dera ismail khan: Commissioner Dawood Khan has underlined the need for taking concrete steps to put an end to unjustified and forced load shedding in the area.
He was chairing a meeting to review the electricity situation in the division.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on feeder-wise recovery, the existing load shedding schedule, power losses, and issues faced by consumers.
The Peshawar Electric Supply Company’s (PESCO) officials briefed the commissioner on the recovery position of various feeders, line losses, and the overall demand and supply of electricity.
The commissioner issued clear instructions to strictly avoid unjustified and forced load shedding in order to extend relief to consumers of the region.
He said that electricity supply should be linked with recovery through a transparent and fair mechanism, adding that creating unnecessary hardships for masses would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
He further directed PESCO authorities to ensure prior public dissemination of load shedding schedules so that consumers could plan their daily activities accordingly.
He also stressed the need for immediate rectification of technical faults and effective measures to reduce line losses.
The meeting that legal action would be taken against defaulters in accordance with the law, while a special monitoring mechanism would be introduced to provide relief to law-abiding consumers.
The commissioner noted that along with improved recovery, restoration of public trust in the power utility was equally important.
Commissioner Dawood Khan also instructed PESCO officials to strengthen coordination, activate complaint redressal centers, and take practical steps to ensure uninterrupted power supply across the division.
