Peshawar: Peshawar police have barred officers and personnel from participating in, supporting or facilitating any political march, rally or procession, while prohibiting the use of official resources, vehicles, machinery and equipment for political activities.
According to a directive issued by police authorities, necessary instructions have been issued to officers and personnel in light of a decision of the Islamabad High Court.
The directive states that no police officer or official would participate in, support or facilitate any political march, rally or procession.
It also prohibits the use of departmental resources, official vehicles, machinery or other government equipment for any political march or procession.
Police personnel have further been directed not to be forced, pressured or provoked into participating in any march or procession. Any officer or official facing pressure or influence from a political leader or public representative has been instructed to immediately bring the matter to the notice of senior police authorities.
The directive calls for strict compliance with the instructions, warning that departmental action would be taken against officials found violating the orders under the relevant rules and regulations. It said serious violations could also lead to dismissal from service. Copies of the directive have been circulated among the relevant police officers.
