Rawalpindi: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA), Rawalpindi Division, continued its crackdown against food adulteration in Jhelum, destroying 2, 300 litres of fake carbonated soft drinks and more than 10 maunds of adulterated salt during operations conducted in Pind Dadan Khan, Arsal Town and New Sabzi Mandi.
According to a PFA spokesperson, the fake soft drinks were destroyed after failing laboratory tests, while the salt was discarded for failing quality standards and for being packed in packaging bearing the names of well-known brands.
The spokesperson said the total value of the destroyed products was approximately Rs 700, 000.
He said the authority would continue its uninterrupted operations against the adulteration mafia and would not allow anyone to endanger public health.
The spokesperson added that the sampling process was continuing across the province and urged citizens to report food-related complaints through the PFA helpline 1223.
