Bahawalpur: The Punjab Healthcare Commission (PHC) sealed eight illegal healthcare facilities and registered two criminal cases against quacks during a crackdown against unqualified medical practitioners.
According to a PHC spokesperson, the operation was conducted under the supervision of Dr Osama Mumtaz in Islami Colony, Bindra Pull, the vicinity of Bahawal Victoria Hospital and Basti Sahlan.
The inspection teams checked 20 healthcare facilities, sealing four clinics run by unqualified practitioners along with unregistered laboratories and unauthorized X-ray centers for violating healthcare regulations.
The spokesperson said show-cause notices were also issued to facilities operating without registration. Two FIRs were registered against quacks who allegedly broke official seals placed on their premises by the commission.
The PHC said strict action would continue against illegal healthcare setups to ensure the provision of safe medical services to citizens.
