Kohat: Police Martyrs’ Day (Youm-e-Shuhada-e-Police) was observed in Kohat on Wednesday with solemnity to pay tribute to police personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty.
A ceremony was held at the Kohat Police Club and attended by General Officer Commanding (GOC) 9th Division Major General Shahid Amir Afsar (HI-M), Provincial Minister for Information Shafi Jan, Provincial Minister for Law Aftab Alam, Senator Khurram Zeeshan, Commissioner Kohat Division Muetasim Billah, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nawaz Wazir, District Police Officer (DPO) Kohat SSP Rai Mazhar Iqbal, senior police and army officers, and families of the martyrs.
The participants visited the Martyrs’ Monument (Yadgar-e-Shuhada), laid floral wreaths, presented a salute, and offered prayers for the departed souls.
Addressing the ceremony, DPO Kohat SSP Rai Mazhar Iqbal paid tribute to the police personnel who sacrificed their lives for peace and security. He said Kohat Police takes pride in its 120 martyrs, including personnel from the District Police, Elite Force, FRP, and other wings of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police. He assured the families of the martyrs that the KP Police would continue to stand by them in every circumstance.
Commissioner Kohat Division Muetasim Billah said the country’s peace, prosperity, and stability were the result of the sacrifices rendered by the martyrs.
GOC 9th Division Major General Shahid Amir Afsar said the Pakistan Army and Police had made unparalleled sacrifices in the fight against terrorism, adding that police personnel continue to serve as a frontline force in safeguarding the nation.
The ceremony concluded with the distribution of gifts among the families of the martyrs and special prayers for the country’s peace, progress, and stability.
