PPP leaders oppose long march, call for peace and relief for people

District

Abbottabad: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Divisional President Malik Farooq on Tuesday said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is facing terrorism and severe inflation and this is not the time for a long march, but for restoring peace and providing relief to the people.

PPP Divisional President Malik Farooq and District President Syed Saleem Shah expressed these views while addressing a press conference here at their residence.

PPP Women’s Wing General Secretary Romesh Saleem, Iftikhar Tanoli, Sajid Butt, Malik Mehrban and other Youth Wing office-bearers were also present.

Malik Farooq said the country was passing through a critical phase and the province was in the grip of terrorism, while inflation had made life increasingly difficult for ordinary citizens. He said the middle class had been badly affected and essential food items had become unaffordable.

He said the PTI had been in power in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the past 13 years, but despite its claims, the people continued to face serious problems and the situation was worsening.

Syed Saleem Shah said that the Constitution provided for emergency or Governor’s Rule under certain circumstances. He said the PPP would respect the Constitution and, if such a step was constitutionally permissible, it could be considered in the national interest.

The PPP leaders said their party was a party of the people and would continue to raise its voice for public relief and against policies that increased the economic burden on citizens
