Lahore: The Punjab government has decided, for the first time, to purchase electric bikes for excise employees as part of efforts to achieve a revenue target of Rs 70 billion. The initiative aims to enhance field efficiency and improve mobility for excise officials across the province.
Excise department officials said that 200 electric bikes will be purchased for inspectors throughout Punjab, including Lahore. These bikes will be distributed among inspectors in various districts according to operational requirements and demand. Officials added that approximately Rs 250,000 will be spent on the purchase of each electric bike. They further stated that the provincial government has approved funds amounting to Rs50 million for the procurement of e-bikes, and the entire purchase and distribution process will be completed within the current financial year.
