Gilgit: Rescue 1122 Gilgit-Baltistan conducted 188 community training sessions across the region during 2025 benefiting a total of 24,240 individuals. Officials were informed about it during a review meeting held at Rescue 1122 Headquarters on Tuesday.
The meeting was chaired by Director General Rescue 1122 Gilgit-Baltistan Azimullah who reviewed the overall performance of community training programs conducted throughout the year.
According to the briefing the trainees included 16,236 men and 8,004 women, who received hands-on training in first aid, fire safety, emergency response, and disaster management to enhance community preparedness during emergencies.
District-wise data revealed that 8,187 people were trained in Gilgit, 6,576 in Skardu, 3,340 in Ghizer, 2,120 in Astore, 1,368 in Ghanche, 1,170 in Kharmang, 650 in Shigar, 320 in Nagar, 312 in Hunza, and 197 in Diamer.
The meeting also highlighted the role of trained rescue volunteers in promoting community safety. It was informed that 200 volunteers each from Shigar, Kharmang, Astore, and Ghizer districts were formally trained during 2025 to serve as first responders in emergency situations.
Speaking on the occasion Director General Azimullah said that community training and volunteer engagement play a vital role in enabling citizens to respond effectively during emergencies. He reaffirmed Rescue 1122’s commitment to further expanding and strengthening community training programs across all districts of Gilgit-Baltistan.
