FAISALABAD:The Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) has reported imposition of fines totaling Rs. 119.481 million on 1,014 individuals, involved in electricity theft during an 11-day anti-power-theft campaign across the FESCO region.
According to FESCO spokesman Tahir Sheikh, the campaign was launched on the special directive of the Minister of Energy (Power Division). During this drive, FESCO’s anti-theft teams apprehended 1,014 power pilferers from its six circles.
The company levied fines on these offenders, and recovered Rs. 25.2 million. Additionally, FESCO initiated legal action against 769 accused individuals, leading to the arrest of 18 electricity thieves by the police.
Further elaborating on the campaign’s results, the spokesman noted that FESCO’s teams identified instances of electricity theft at 384 locations in Faisalabad district, imposing fines totaling Rs. 48.4 million under the category of 1.129 million detection units.
In Bhakkar district, the anti-theft teams apprehended 97 electricity thieves and imposed a fine of Rs. 14.2 million, corresponding to 265,000 detection units.
Similarly, 107 cases of electricity theft were uncovered in Chiniot district, resulting in a fine of Rs. 8.357 million being imposed under 288,000 detection units.
In Jhang district, 106 electricity thieves were caught, with fines amounting to Rs. 15.3 million imposed for 488,000 detection units.
Khushab district saw 31 consumers involved in electricity theft, and they were fined Rs. 3.985 million for 80,000 detection units.
Furthermore, FESCO teams apprehended 87 power pilferers in Mianwali, imposing a fine of Rs. 6.9 million for 163,000 detection units.
In Sargodha district, 126 cases of electricity theft were detected, leading to fines totaling Rs. 15.2 million being imposed under 369,000 detection units.
Lastly, in Toba Tek Singh district, 69 electricity thieves were apprehended, and FESCO imposed fines amounting to Rs. 7.63 million for 200,000 detection units.
In response to a query, it was revealed that 104 power pilferers were nabbed within the last 24 hours, resulting in the imposition of fines totaling Rs. 11.6 million under 216,000 detection units.
