Faisalabad: Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) Board of Governors has unanimously approved a balanced budget of Rs 2.99 billion for the financial year 2026-27, along with the revised budget for the financial year 2025-26 of FDA.
The meeting of the Board of Governors was held under the chairmanship of Faisalabad Division Commissioner Dr. Imran Hamid Sheikh, who was elected to preside over the meeting in accordance with the prescribed rules and regulations.
Director General FDA Muhammad Asif Chaudhry presented the budget estimates for the current financial year and other agenda items.
The meeting was attended by the officers representing the Deputy Commissioner Faisalabad, Punjab Planning and Development Department, Housing and Urban Development Department, Local Government Department and Finance Department.
FDA Chief Engineer Mehr Ayub, Directors Asma Mohsin, Junaid Hassan Manj, Yasar Ejaz Chattha, Asim Mahmood, Afnan Saeed Sindhu and other relevant FDA officers were also present.
Briefing the participants on the budget details, Director General FDA Muhammad Asif Chaudhary stated that Rs 1.56 billion had been allocated for development purposes and Rs 1.24 billion for non-development expenditures in the current financial year’s budget, while Rs 190 million had been included as the opening balance.
He said that the agreement to sell 284 plots of various sizes in FDA City to the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) had significantly strengthened the Authority’s financial position. This would help improve its financial resources and facilitate future planning.
The Board of Governors also approved the adoption of various Government of Punjab notifications concerning salaries and pensions, as well as the introduction of a Saturday holiday at FDA offices on a trial basis for three months.
Regarding the regularization of salaries of workman employees, it was decided to refer the matter to the Punjab Finance Department for its opinion on the relevant technical, financial and legal aspects.
The meeting further approved a change in land use to facilitate the provision of 21 kanals of land in Block F, Millat Town, to the Special Education Department for establishing an autism centre to provide education and training to children with special needs.
Appreciating the observations and suggestions presented by participants on various agenda items, Commissioner Faisalabad Division Dr. Imran Hamid Sheikh said that collective consultation and consideration of opinions from different sectors helped formulate sound policies and make better decisions in accordance with the prescribed rules and regulations.
He appreciated the administration’s efforts to strengthen the FDA’s financial position and commended the measures taken to sell a substantial number of plots to FESCO.
Director General FDA Muhammad Asif Chaudhary thanked the Commissioner Faisalabad Division and other members of the Board of Governors for their participation and valuable input.
He said that strengthening the Authority’s financial resources, ensuring the effective and transparent utilization of available funds, and advancing development activities in line with financial capacity were among the FDA’s key priorities.
He added that the financial stability achieved through the sale of plots to FESCO would be utilized to improve the Authority’s overall performance, meet development requirements and ensure the efficient management of administrative affairs.
Reaffirming the FDA administration’s commitment, he said that efforts would continue to ensure the optimal utilisation of available resources, transparency in financial matters, compliance with rules and regulations, and the provision of improved services to citizens.
