SAU 5 departments secure improved NAEAC accreditation rankings


Hyderabad: Five academic departments of Sindh Agriculture University (SAU), Tandojam have secured improved accreditation rankings following a comprehensive evaluation by the National Agriculture Education Accreditation Council (NAEAC), marking a significant improvement in the university’s academic standards.



The SAU spokesperson Gul Sher Lochi informed on Wednesday that the departments of Biotechnology, Dairy Technology, Fisheries and Aquaculture, Poultry Science and Soil Science were evaluated by a NAEAC team against a range of academic and institutional criteria including strength and quality of faculty, infrastructure and learning resources, curriculum design and development, student assessment and evaluation, student support and progression, research and advisory activities, governance and leadership and stakeholder feedback.



During its visit to the university, the evaluation team also obtained feedback from faculty members, students and supporting staff.



According to the accreditation results, the Department of Soil Science secured W2 accreditation with a score of 88. 1 percent, while the Department of Poultry Science obtained X2 in its first accreditation. The Department of Biotechnology secured X3, while the Department of Dairy Technology achieved X3 in its first accreditation. The Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture obtained Y1 in its first accreditation.



The accreditation certificates and Assessment Inspection Committee (AIC) reports were presented to the respective heads of departments by SAU Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Altaf Ali Siyal at a ceremony held at the university’s Senate Hall on Wednesday.



Speaking on the occasion, Dr Altaf Siyal said the improved accreditation rankings of the university’s departments and degree programs were the result of the hard work and commitment of faculty members, department heads and supporting staff.



He described the achievement as a major honor for the university and stressed the need for continuous improvement in academic quality in response to changing global conditions, national and international market demands and growing competition from the private and industrial sectors.



Quality Enhancement Adviser Dr Saleem Maseeh Bhatti also spoke at the ceremony. NAEAC Vice Chairman Dr Inayatullah Rajpar, Deans Dr Syed Ghiasuddin Shah Rashdi and Dr Munir Ahmed Mangrio, and Registrar Ghulam Mohiuddin Qureshi were also present on the occasion.
