Karachi: The Governor of Sindh Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi hosted a ‘Mushaira’ in connection with the Independence Day at Governor House, on Saturday night. Addressing the Mushaira participants, he said that independence of Pakistan is a story of the sacrifices, determination, and unity of millions of Muslims.
The Governor of Sindh Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi said that our elders sacrificed their lives, wealth, and homes to give us an independent homeland. He said that father of the nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah worked day and night for independence despite his illness.
The Governor of Sindh said that the realization of Quaid-e-Azam’s dream lies in providing education, healthcare, and basic facilities to every household.
Poets and writers played an important role in the struggle for Pakistan’s independence, the Governor said adding that literary gatherings introduced the younger generation to the struggle for independence.
Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi said that it is the responsibility of all of us to value our freedom and pass its significance on to the next generation.
He said that everyone must play their part in promoting Pakistan’s development, peace, and prosperity. The Independence Day Mushaira held at the Governor House was presided over by renowned poet and writer Professor Sehar Ansari.
The Mushaira was attended by Javed Saba, Anwar Shaoor, Akhtar Saeedi, Iqbal Khawar, and Dr. Iqbal Pirzada. Khawaja Razi Haider, Tariq Sabzwari, Amberin Haseeb Amber, Shaista Mufti, Wajiha Sani, Tabish Zaidi, and other distinguished poets also participated in the event.
