Sukkur: A delegation of the Sindh Information Commission visited the Sukkur National Press Club and gave a detailed briefing to journalists on the establishment of the Commission and the Right to Information law.
The delegation included Commissioner-I Muhammad Saleem Khan, Commissioner-II Noor Muhammad Dayo, Executive Director Sindh Information Commission Zulfiqar Ahmed Shaikh, Director Information Sukkur, Ghulam Abbas Goraho, Legal Consultant Advocate Muhammad Amjad and others.
They were warmly received by Founder Sukkur National Press Club Imdad Phulpoto, President Abdul Rauf Abbasi, General Secretary Rasheed Raza, President of Sukkur Union of Journalists Parvez Khan, General Secretary Deen Muhammad Samijo, Raja Rustam Indhar, Saeed Jatoi and others, who presented the traditional Sindhi Ajrak to the guests as a cultural gift.
On the occasion, Commissioner-I Muhammad Saleem Khan briefed the journalists about the Commission, particularly about the Right to Information law, and explained the establishment of the Commission across Sindh and the procedure to facilitate journalistic work.
Commissioner-II Noor Muhammad Dayo briefed about the role and jurisdiction of the Commission and said that initially the Commission will work at the divisional headquarters of Sindh. He said the Commission also has the power to sentence officers from Grade 16 to Grade 20 up to two and a half years.
A large number of members of the Sukkur National Press Club and Sukkur Union of Journalists were present on the occasion. Journalists also apprised the Commission of the problems faced during field reporting in Sukkur and its surroundings and the retaliatory actions by politicians and bureaucrats.
