Hyderabad: As part of the two week long Independence Day celebrations at the University of Sindh, a tree plantation ceremony was held at the Institute of Sindhology under the theme ‘Green Pakistan, Green Sindh University’. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Fateh Muhammad Mari (T. I) inaugurated the campaign by planting a sapling as chief guest.
According to the University’s spokesperson, the Director Institute of Sindhology Dr. Fayaz Latif, Dean Faculty of Arts Dr. Muhammad Khan Sangi, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences Dr Nanak Ram, Dean Faculty of Engineering and Technology Dr Lachhman Das Dhomeja, Dean Faculty of Natural Sciences Dr Naheed Kaka, Controller Semester Examinations Muhammad Mashooque Siddiqui, Director Finance Zeeshan Memon, Director Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Chair Dr. Rehana Mallah, Director Allama Ghulam Mustafa Qasmi Chair Dr. Qazi Khadim Hussain, Chairman Department of Archaeology Dr. Abdul Razzaque Channa, Dr Rafique Wassan, Chairman Department of Political Science Dr. Ghulam Akbar Mahesar, Dr. Ishaq Samejo, Dr Faisal Hyder Shah, Chairman Sindh University Colony Dr Mazhar Abbasi, Dr Niaz Ahmed Bhutto and others also planted flowering and fruit-bearing saplings along with the vice-chancellor, contributing to the environment friendly activity and offering prayers for the country’s progress and prosperity.
Talking to the media on the occasion, Dr Mari said Independence Day was a national festival that was celebrated across the country with great enthusiasm and fervour. He said Independence Day celebrations had been continuing at the University of Sindh for the past two weeks.
He said the purpose of the celebrations was not only to express love and devotion to the country and strengthen the spirit of patriotism, but also to promote healthy and environment friendly activities among students and the wider university community.
