Multan: The South Punjab Inter-Divisional Independence Day Baseball Championship will be held in Multan on August 20 as part of the celebrations marking Pakistan’s Independence Day.
Divisional Sports Officer Multan Atta-ur-Rehman Khan said this while addressing a meeting held to finalize arrangements for the championship. The event is being organized by the Sports Department Multan in collaboration with the Punjab Baseball Association.
Atta-ur-Rehman Khan said Independence Day was being celebrated across the country with great enthusiasm to pay tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the creation of Pakistan. He said the Sports Department was organizing various sporting activities to commemorate the national day and promote healthy activities among the youth.
Punjab Baseball Association Secretary Muhammad Jameel Kamran said a training camp for pitchers and catchers from across Punjab would be held on August 19. The Inter-Divisional South Punjab Independence Day Baseball Championship would then be organized at the Divisional Sports Complex Multan on August 20.
Teams from Multan, Bahawalpur and Dera Ghazi Khan divisions would participate in the championship, he added.
Atta-ur-Rehman Khan assured that the visiting teams and officials would be provided with the best possible facilities and that comprehensive arrangements would be made for the successful conduct of the event.
He said the Sports Department had always remained committed to the promotion of sports and providing players with a conducive environment for healthy and positive activities.
Punjab Baseball Association Secretary Muhammad Jameel Kamran, District Sports Officer Multan Adnan Naeem, Coach Muhammad Hassan Jameel, Dr. Adnan Mirza, Khawaja Hassan Wadood and Asad Habib also attended the meeting.
