ISLAMABAD:The speakers at a roundtable discussion on Thursday heaped praises on the visionary leadership of China for implementing effective social and economic policies which would eventually pave the way for its rise as a global power.
The rising superpower China is the future as the policies being implemented under President Xi Jinping’s visionary leadership are being followed by multiple countries across the world, GSRRA Founding Chair and lecturer at NUST Professor Zamir Ahmed Awan told the panel of roundtable discussion.
The discussion titled “An Appraisal of 10 years of Chinese National Congress and Regional Outlook” was organised under the banner of Islamabad Institute of Conflict Resolution (IICR), an Islamabad-based think tank.
The professor said the Communist Party of China (CPC) had critical role behind its progress and development. “Chinese President Xi Jinping is a visionary leader with a global perspective,” he added.
He said China had the capacity to reshape the global order, as its leadership had emerged as the strongest in the world. China had successfully curbed the menace of corruption which led to the eradication of poverty.
In his virtual presentation over Zoom link, Diplomatic Historian Dr George H Cooke highlighted that the Chinese leadership had sought to strategize foreign policy efficiency by basing it on domestic demand and policy.
Political Economist Shakeel Ahmad said that the most important contribution of CPC was the production of visionary people who possessed leadership characteristics of wisdom, competence, and selflessness.
He underlined that selflessness, and high moral and ethical values of the leadership helped China to emerge as a rising power.
Independent Researcher & Co-editor of Friends of Socialist China Carlos Martinez said as the 20th CPC National Congress being held in three days, it was an opportune moment to take a look at china’s system of people’s democracy, a subject that was often “misunderstood and misrepresented”.
He said the western world had positioned itself as the sole arbiter of democracy. However, big priorities for the Chinese Government were tackling poverty, building common prosperity and ensuring that everybody had a home and access to healthcare, education, clean water, and modern energy.
Head of China Study Centre, COMSATS University Dr Tahir MumtazAwan in his address said, hopefully, CPC and Xi Jinping would emerge even more resilient post the 20th CPC Congress, which paved the way to China’s rise as a global power. “China is working further to become not only more powerful but aiming for regional prosperity and common growth,” he added.
