Peshawar: Stakeholders from government and civil society on Friday agreed to strengthen institutional coordination and joint efforts to improve water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) services, enhance climate change resilience, empower women and promote public health.
The discussions were held at a series of meetings organized by the Integrated Regional Support Programme (IRSP) in collaboration with the Freshwater Action Network South Asia Pakistan (FANSA).
Representatives of CWIS, WASH Network, DCCM and the task team participated in the meetings and held discussions with officials of relevant government institutions.
The delegation met officials of the Secretary Local Council Board, Watson Cell and Water and Sanitation Services Company (WSSC) Peshawar to discuss measures for improving WASH services and addressing the impacts of climate change.
The participants also discussed effective inter-institutional coordination, greater participation and empowerment of women and joint initiatives to improve public health.
They emphasized that stronger cooperation between government and non-governmental organizations could help provide better water, sanitation and hygiene facilities to the public.
