Karachi: Police arrested a suspected street criminal in an injured condition following an encounter with law enforcers in the Khameeso Goth area within the limits of New Karachi Industrial Area Police Station on Thursday.
According to police, the suspects opened fire on a police party, prompting retaliatory fire. After the exchange, one suspect was arrested in an injured condition, while his accomplice managed to escape.
The arrested suspect was identified as Farman alias Fammu, son of Khadim Hussain. Police recovered a 30-bore TT pistol, a mobile phone and a motorcycle from his possession.
Separate cases have been registered against the suspect at New Karachi Industrial Area Police Station under the relevant provisions relating to the police encounter and illegal possession of arms, while further investigation is underway, police said.
