Tori Bangash road to be opened for public ahead of Sept 30: Mayor Karachi


Karachi: Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab conducted a detailed inspection of the ongoing development work on Tori Bangash Road and set September 30 as the deadline for completion of the project.



On the occasion, officials of the Engineering Department briefed the Mayor Karachi in detail about the ongoing development work.



Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab said that Tori Bangash Road would serve as an important alternative route connecting District West, Orangi and Keamari with Hub River Road. The project, being constructed at an estimated cost of approximately Rs. 1 billion, would provide better commuting facilities to the residents of these areas and make daily travel easier for thousands of citizens.



He said that a new stormwater drain was also being constructed along Tori Bangash Road, the work on which would be completed within the next few days, after which the road construction would be completed. ‘Our target is to complete the road before September 30 and open it to the public, ‘ he said.



He said that Tori Bangash Road had been an important issue for the people of District West, Orangi and Keamari. Completion of the project would provide better transportation facilities to citizens and improve connectivity between different areas. The availability of an alternative route would also help reduce traffic pressure on major roads.



He said that construction of the stormwater drain was also an important component of the project, which would help improve drainage during rainfall. The concerned departments had been directed to complete the road and stormwater drain within the stipulated timeframe so that citizens could benefit from the project at the earliest.



The Mayor Karachi said that Karachi Metropolitan Corporation was carrying out development works in every part of the city and efforts were being made to complete all ongoing projects during the current year. Various projects were underway to improve basic municipal facilities and infrastructure in Karachi.



He said that Karachi was moving towards improvement and that the Pakistan Peoples Party was capable of transforming Karachi into the City of Lights once again.
