Karachi: A media awareness and sensitization workshop was held in connection with the World Breastfeeding Week 2026 at Karachi Press Club here on Tuesday. The workshopn was organized by the Sindh Institute of Child Health and Neonatology (SICHN) in collaboration with UNICEF Sindh and Karachi Press Club.
Addressing the event speakers said this year’s global theme is ‘Breastfeeding for a Sustainable Start in Life: Strengthen What Works’. They said that the theme stressed the need for stronger, sustained efforts across health systems, workplaces and communities to protect and promote breastfeeding.
They said that media professionals play a vital role in advancing this cause and the workshop aims to equip them with accurate, evidence-based information to support their coverage of infant and maternal health issues.
Different sessions were held including a session on breastfeeding and child survival, maternal health and barriers to breastfeeding and a briefing on the Sindh Protection and Promotion of Breastfeeding and Young Child Nutrition Act 2023.
