ACP Karachi’s ongoing alumni series presents entertaining comedy-drama ‘English Only’


Karachi: The Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, as part of its ongoing Alumni Series, presented the entertaining comedy-drama ‘English Only. ‘



The seventh production of the School of Visual and Performing Arts (SOVAPA) Alumni Series was warmly received by the audience, who greatly appreciated the performances of the cast. Written by American playwright Sanaz Toosi, the play was adapted and directed by Awab Farhat.



The cast featured Farhan Alam, Kiran Amin, Nafees Qamar, Sanober Ahmed and Awab Farhat, who delivered impressive performances and demonstrated remarkable artistic talent.



‘English Only’ was presented in both Urdu and English and had a duration of 90 minutes. Set in a lively TOEFL classroom, the play follows students from diverse backgrounds as they struggle to learn a new language and build their confidence.



The play portrays the challenges faced by students in overcoming language barriers, dealing with self-confidence issues and expressing themselves effectively. Through humorous misunderstandings and emotional moments, the play highlights the values of friendship, communication and embracing one’s individuality. ‘English Only’ beautifully explores the courage to learn, express oneself and find one’s own voice.



The audience showed great interest throughout the performance and highly appreciated the outstanding performances by the cast.
