Tourism department intensifies inspections to ensure cleanliness, facilities for tourists in Abbottabad

Abbottabad: District Culture and Tourism Officer Abbottabad Joher Khan has said that provision of better facilities to tourists and maintenance of cleanliness at tourist destinations are among the department’s top priorities, with no negligence to be tolerated in this regard.

In compliance with the directives of the Director General of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (KPCTA), Joher Khan conducted a field visit to Murree Road and adjoining areas of Dhamtour, inspecting hotels, petrol pumps and other tourism facilities. Hotel owners and stakeholders were directed to ensure proper waste disposal, cleanliness of rooms and washrooms, and round-the-clock availability of clean water at petrol pumps and public washrooms.

He said surprise inspections of hotels and tourist spots would continue and violators would face fines under the relevant rules. Hotel owners were also directed to charge tourists only prescribed and reasonable rates and avoid unnecessary additional charges.

The District Culture and Tourism Officer said strict hygiene standards would be enforced in hotel kitchens in coordination with the Food Authority. He also directed that tourism information brochures carrying emergency contact numbers, particularly Tourism Police numbers, be displayed at prominent locations to facilitate tourists in emergencies. He said coordinated measures would continue to provide visitors with a clean, safe and quality environment.
