Kallar syedan: A tree plantation campaign was launched in Kallar Syedan on Thursday as part of Pakistan’s Independence Day 2026 celebrations, following directives from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Rawalpindi Deputy Commissioner Capt. (Retd. ) Nadeem Nasir.
Chief Officer of the Municipal Committee, Riffat Abbas Pasha, inaugurated the campaign by planting a sapling in the presence of municipal officials and staff.
Under the initiative, hundreds of saplings are being planted along the green belt on the Chowk Pindori-Kallar Syedan Road to enhance the area’s greenery, promote environmental conservation and improve the appearance of the roadway.
Speaking at the event, Pasha said tree plantation was a national and environmental responsibility that required the participation of every citizen. He said special arrangements had been made for the protection, irrigation and maintenance of the saplings to ensure they grow into mature trees and contribute to a healthier environment.
He added that the campaign forms part of the Punjab government’s “Green Punjab” vision aimed at expanding green cover and improving the environment.
