U-turn project at canal road approved


Faisalabad: The Punjab government has accorded approval for construction of a state-of-the-art U-turn at canal road with an estimated cost of Rs 170 million. The project will be executed at Thatha Pull on canal road.



Commissioner Imran Hamid Sheikh on Monday said that Punjab Chief minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif had fulfilled another promise made to the people for the construction of U-turn at canal road. He said that approximately 800,000 vehicles passed daily on canal road and 12 traffic wardens in peak hours and 8 in off hours were performing duty at the point to manage traffic flow.



He said that according to the Rescue-1122 report, about 650 road accidents had been reported at the point during the last one year of which 522 injured were provided first aid on the spot while 128 were rushed to hospitals.
