Peshawar: Special Assistant to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister on Population Welfare Tufail Anjum on Monday directed the concerned authorities to take practical measures for improving agricultural productivity and educational facilities in PK-55 Mardan.
Chairing a meeting here, he reviewed agricultural initiatives in the constituency, including extension services, research-in-farm, water management, soil conservation and agricultural engineering.
The Special Assistant called for facilitating farmers with modern farming techniques, efficient water management and guidance to cope with the impacts of climate change.
He said greater attention to the agriculture sector would help improve farmers’ livelihoods, strengthen the provincial economy and contribute to food security.
In a separate meeting, Anjum reviewed the requirements and problems of four colleges in the constituency, including the Government Girls Degree College Khairabad, Government Degree College Bakhshali, Government Girls Degree College Rustam and Government Degree College Sawaldher.
The meeting discussed shortages of teaching and non-teaching staff, furniture, funds and other essential facilities.
Anjum directed the relevant authorities to assess the needs of the institutions and ensure provision of required resources on a priority basis.
He said adequate facilities and a conducive learning environment were essential for quality education and directed that shortages affecting students’ academic activities be addressed without delay.
