Peshawar: Around 350 students from merged districts have been forcibly evicted from their hostels at University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Jalozai campus.
Speaking at Peshawar Press Club on Saturday, Accelerated Skill Development Program (ASDP) Student President Habib Noor Wazir said that long program delays, a shortage of lecturers, and withheld monthly stipends as major issues.
He added that students were being forced to complete practical internships in terrorism-prone areas like Bannu against their will.
Wazir alleged that UET staff intimidated students who raised their voices, threatening to file FIRs and block their identity cards. He further claimed that the university administration kept harassing parents of students and told them that if their son went missing, we would not be responsible for it.
Demanding immediate action from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister to provide shelter and resolve these grievances.
He criticized Industries Department for negligence and warned of province-wide sit-ins if their demands are not met.
He was accompanied by students of the Skill Development Program from the merged districts including North Waziristan, South Waziristan, Bajaur, Khyber, Orakzai, Mohmand and Kurram.
