Faisalabad: Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has put its entire operations staff on high alert for 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal after Managing Director Engineer Saqib Raza ordered uninterrupted clearance of all procession routes.
He directed WASA officials to ensure that no missing manhole covers, roadside drain slabs or sewage overflows create hazards for participants and citizens.
Presiding over a meeting, he reviewed arrangements for the religious occasion and directed the operations staff to remain fully present along the routes of all Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) processions and ensure that every route remained completely clear.
He specifically ordered that all manholes along the procession routes must remain properly covered and no slab of any roadside drain should be missing. Such lapses could pose serious risks to citizens and procession participants, he added.
He also directed the concerned teams to maintain close monitoring of the routes and ensure that no sewage overflow was visible anywhere along the procession paths.
He said that immediate remedial action should be taken wherever any drainage-related problem was identified.
He said that the agency had mobilized its operational resources and placed all relevant staff on high alert to ensure smooth arrangements for the 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal celebrations.
He emphasized that citizens must be provided with efficient and quality water supply and drainage services on the occasion. He directed all departments to utilize every available resource for this purpose.
He made it clear that negligence or dereliction of duty would not be tolerated and instructed the field teams to remain vigilant throughout the celebrations.
WASA’s operational teams would continue monitoring the procession routes and respond promptly to any complaint or emergency so that religious gatherings could be held in a safe, clean and orderly environment, he added.
