Multan: Comprehensive security arrangements have been finalized across South Punjab for Eid Milad-un-Nabi (SAWW), with thousands of police officials and personnel deployed to ensure the safety of participants, maintain law and order and facilitate peaceful celebrations. In Multan region, more than 4,000 police officers and personnel would be deployed to provide security for 220 processions and 44 Milad programmes in Multan, Vehari, Khanewal and Lodhran districts.
RPO Multan Usman Akram Gondal said foolproof security arrangements had been finalized for all Eid Milad-un-Nabi processions and programmes. Sensitive processions and gatherings would be monitored through CCTV and Safe City cameras, while participants at sensitive locations would be checked through walk-through gates and metal detectors. Elite Force, traffic police, Special Branch and other relevant personnel would also perform security duties.
Heavy police contingents would be deployed along procession routes, while special arrangements had been made to ensure smooth traffic flow. The RPO directed police officers to remain highly alert throughout the celebrations and said negligence or laxity in security arrangements would not be tolerated. In Dera Ghazi Khan, 57 processions will be taken out on 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal, while more than 1,300 police officials and personnel, including Elite Force, Dolphin Force, women police, traffic police and other law-enforcement personnel, will perform security duties.
According to Dera Ghazi Khan police, personnel have been assigned named duties at all programmes, while police pickets had been established at entry and exit points, important intersections and other sensitive locations. Search and sweeping operations will be conducted along procession routes before the events, while plainclothes personnel will keep a close watch on suspicious individuals. DPO Dera Ghazi Khan urged members of peace committees, religious scholars and programme organisers to cooperate with the administration and promote peace, brotherhood and harmony.
In Muzaffargarh, 74 processions and 16 Milad gatherings will be held, for which 1,228 police officials and personnel will be deployed. Armed, anti-riot and reserve forces will remain on alert, while volunteers will also assist police in security duties. A special control room has been set up at the DPO Office, Muzaffargarh, to monitor security arrangements throughout the celebrations. Procession routes will be secured with barbed wire and monitored through Safe City CCTV cameras. A special traffic plan, including alternative routes, has also been prepared in view of security requirements. DPO Muzaffargarh Syed Ghazanfar Ali Shah said enhanced security arrangements had been made to ensure peace and protect the lives and property of citizens, adding that all available resources would be utilized to maintain law and order.
