Hyderabad: Sindh Minister for Home, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar has said that the role of welfare organizations in serving humanity is highly commendable.
He was speaking as the chief guest at the 61st Annual Installation Ceremony of Rotary Club. Minister said that, in future, projects for public welfare would be developed under public-private partnerships. He also highlighted the significant role of Rotary International in eradication of polio and the provision of healthcare facilities.
Speaking on the occasion, Rotary Club Governor for Sindh and Balochistan Shahzad Sabir highlighted various initiatives being undertaken by Rotary Club in the province. He announced that an e-learning center would be established in Nawabshah.
He further said that, in collaboration with Aga Khan Hospital, a Clinical Center was being established at the Mother and Child Hospital at a cost of US$80, 000 to provide training to doctors and paramedical staff. Modern equipment worth US$80, 000 would also be provided to a privately operated eye hospital in Nawabshah. He announced that Rotary Club would provide an ambulance for the Thalassemia Center.
Addressing the ceremony, Rotary Club President Osama Anwar said that a wastewater treatment plant would be established in city. He added that Rotary Club’s Diabetes Clinic had been providing free treatment facilities for several years. He further announced that a tree plantation campaign would be launched across the district. Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad Division Ghulam Qadir Khan Talpur and Deputy Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad Abdul Samad Nizamani also addressed the ceremony.
SSP Sumair Noor Channa, Mayor Qazi Muhammad Rasheed Bhatti, Arshad Qureshi, Syed Atif Zaidi, Zardari House In-charge Mir Muhammad Siyal, and Rotary Club Governor-Nominee for 2028 Abdul Jabbar Sheikh were also present on the occasion.
