Young boy killed in hit-and-run incident on airport road

Multan: An 11-year-old boy was killed after being run over by an unidentified speeding Honda Civic on Airport Road in the Jameelabad area of Multan, while the driver fled the scene after the tragic incident.



According to details, the victim, Yason, was the only brother of three sisters. His death plunged the family into deep grief, while the incident also triggered anger among local residents.



Following the incident, the bereaved family and area residents staged a protest for around five hours by placing the child’s body on the road and demanding immediate arrest of the driver responsible for the accident.



The protest was attended by the victim’s father, Yasir Masih, Pastor Emmanuel Akram, Pastor Zubair Peter, Afzal Pasha, Arshad Danish, Malik Masih, Imran Chand, Chaudhry Qaiser Sardar, Malik Bashir, Boota Masih, Rafi Masih, Yousaf Masih and Naqash Masih, besides a large number of women.



Senior police officials also reached the spot and assured the family that all possible efforts would be made to arrest the suspect.



The family later shifted the deceased’s body to the mortuary of Nishtar Hospital and announced that they would not bury the child until the alleged driver was arrested. The tragic incident has cast a pall of grief over the area.



A case regarding the incident has been registered at Sadar Police Station, and police have launched efforts to trace and arrest the suspect involved in the hit-and-run.
