Muzaffargarh: A youth went missing after allegedly jumping into the Chenab River near the Chenab Bridge,prompting rescue teams to launch a search operation,officials said on Sunday.
According to Rescue 1122,the incident occurred on Saturday,after which emergency teams rushed to the scene and informed the police.
Eyewitnesses said the youth drowned after jumping into the river. He was identified as Muhammad Umair(22),r/o Nai Abadi Kiyanpur Aliwala in Multan.
District Emergency Officer(DEO),Obaidullah Khan said rescue teams began a search operation immediately after receiving the report.
However,the operation was temporarily suspended overnight due to darkness and poor visibility.
The search resumed early on Sunday with the assistance of rescue divers,he said,adding that all available resources were being utilized and the operation would continue until the missing youth is located.
