ISLAMABAD:Islamabad Excise and Taxation department has started collecting vehicle token tax at his office from paper registration book holder.
Prior to this initiative, the paper book holder could only submit their vehicle token tax at general post office, said Director Excise Bilal Azam on Thursday.
Talking to reporter on Thursday, he said the move was aimed at converting paper registration books into smart cards so the vehicle owners could pay token fee online for the next fiscal year 2020-21 without visiting excise office.
Azam said smart card holders could pay token tax in any branch of national bank, through city Islamabad App or via NADRA’s e-Sahoolat centers.
He urged the vehicle owners to submit their token fee at earliest to avoid penalty.
To a query, he said the department has taken multiple initiatives for the convenience of the motorists.
The department teams were providing vehicle registration facility on major thoroughfares and parks in the federal capital. Door step vehicle registration was also underway, he added.
Hundreds of people of Islamabad have availed the facility, especially at Fatima Jinnah Park F-9 and Shalimar Ground F-6. Such services not only saved public time, but eventually increased revenue of the excise, he observed.
