Islamabad: Assistant Commissioner Shalimar detained 11 hawkers for blocking a double road with encroachments and seized 200 kilograms of plastic bags during an inspection visit to the Sabzi Mandi, where stocks of different commodities were also checked.
During the visit, the Assistant Commissioner inspected the availability and stock position of various items at the wholesale market. The inspection was carried out to review supplies and monitor market operations.
The administration also checked encroachments in and around the market. Action was taken against vendors who had occupied public space and blocked a double road, creating difficulties for traffic movement and market visitors.
As part of the operation, 11 hawkers were taken into custody and shifted to the lock-up for establishing encroachments and obstructing the road.
The Assistant Commissioner also inspected shops in the market and took action against the use and storage of plastic shopping bags. During the inspection, officials seized 200 kilograms of plastic bags from different shops.
The operation was part of ongoing efforts to ensure compliance with market regulations and maintain smooth movement within the Sabzi Mandi. Officials said inspections of markets and commercial areas would continue, with action against violations of regulations and encroachments affecting public spaces.
