Peshawar: At least two schoolgirls lost their lives after being swept away by a flash flood triggered by a cloudburst in Jabori area of Siran Valley, Mansehra, on Monday.
According to rescue officials, three young schoolgirls were returning home from school when sudden flooding in a seasonal stream swept them away. Rescue teams responded immediately and successfully saved one of the girls, while the other two drowned.
Sources said the three girls were residents of Village Council Chehla Bagh. The bodies of the two deceased students were later recovered near the NADRA office on Jabori Road.
One of the victims has been identified as Warida, daughter of Shafiq-ur-Rehman, a resident of Chehla Bagh. The identity of the second victim has not yet been confirmed.
Authorities and rescue officials have urged residents to stay away from seasonal streams and waterways during heavy rainfall to avoid similar accidents.
