Sialkot: President Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), Syed Ahtesham Mazhar, inaugurated the Thesis Display 2026 organized by the Department of Art and Design, Government College Women University Sialkot (GCWUS) in collaboration with SCCI.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Vice Chancellor GCWUS, Prof. Dr. Shazia Bashir, Vice President SCCI Salman Sheikh, Members of the SCCI Executive Committee, former Office Bearers, distinguished faculty members, and representatives from the local business community.

The two-day exhibition was held at SCCI, showcases the final-year thesis projects of the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) students. The display features an impressive collection of creative works reflecting the students’ artistic excellence, innovation, and practical design capabilities.

Speaking on the occasion, President Syed Ahtesham Mazhar appreciated the remarkable talent and creativity demonstrated by the young artists. He emphasized that stronger collaboration between academia and industry is essential for fostering innovation, promoting creative entrepreneurship, and creating meaningful opportunities for emerging professionals. He reaffirmed SCCI’s commitment to providing platforms that bridge educational institutions with the industrial sector, enabling students to gain greater exposure to market needs and commercial opportunities.

The exhibition will remain open for visitors over the next two days, offering members of the business community, academia, and the general public an opportunity to witness the exceptional artistic and design work produced by the students of Government College Women University Sialkot (GCWUS).

Sargodha: Regional Police Officer Muhammad Shahzad Asif Khan visited Khushab district where on Thursday and conducted an open court with District Police Officer Dr Amara Shirazi.

A large number of citizens participated and directly expressed their problems. The RPO listened to the complaints of the citizens one by one and, fulfilling the demands of justice, issued strict orders to the concerned police officers to resolve the problems immediately on the spot.

He made it clear that laxity in resolving public problems will not be tolerated under any circumstances. RPO Sargodha, along with DPO Khushab Dr. Amara Shirazi and other senior police officers, formally inaugurated the newly constructed modern ‘Investigation Complex’.

He conducted a detailed inspection of various areas of the new building, appreciated the quality of construction and issued instructions for the best maintenance of the building and proper use of resources to make the investigation process more transparent and effective. Later, he also visited Safe City Khushab, where he reviewed the monitoring and security system and gave instructions for further improvement in day-to-day affairs.

Sargodha: Commissioner Sargodha Division Hafiz Shoukat Ali on Thursday directed all relevant departments to work in close coordination and resolve jurisdiction-related issues without delay to ensure uninterrupted and timely delivery of public services.

He issued these directions while chairing a meeting at the Commissioner Office to review issues related to the jurisdiction of various government departments and enhance inter-departmental coordination for improved public service delivery.

The meeting was attended by Additional Commissioner Coordination Ashfaq ur Rehman Khan, Deputy Commissioner Sargodha Hussain Ahmed Raza Chaudhry, the Director Local Government, Director General of the Sargodha Development Authority (SDA), Managing Directors of the Suthra Punjab Agency, Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), and Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA), along with the Chief Officers of the Municipal Corporation and District Council Sargodha.

Participants reviewed matters concerning the jurisdiction of different departments, coordination mechanisms, development projects, delivery of civic services, and administrative affairs.

Officials highlighted challenges related to overlapping jurisdictions and presented recommendations for resolving them effectively.

The Commissioner said effective collaboration among institutions was essential for the timely completion of development projects, efficient utilization of resources, and improved standards of public service.

He further instructed officers to prioritize matters involving multiple departments through mutual consultation, stressing that eliminating administrative bottlenecks would help ensure the timely completion of public welfare projects and improve governance across the division.

Bahawalpur: In compliance with the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Deputy Commissioner Syed Hassan Raza chaired a high-level review meeting to assess the district’s preparedness for the anticipated heatwave and finalize preventive measures to safeguard public health.

The meeting reviewed forecasts issued by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) and the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) predicting an intense heatwave across South Punjab. Participants assessed the preparedness of all relevant departments and discussed coordinated response measures to minimize the impact of extreme temperatures.

Addressing the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner directed all concerned departments to remain on high alert and ensure that contingency plans are fully in place to deal with any emergency situation. He emphasized that protecting human lives is the district administration’s foremost priority and instructed officials to ensure that all possible facilities are made available to the public during the heatwave. He ordered the uninterrupted supply of clean and chilled drinking water throughout the district and directed that all heatwave relief camps established across the tehsils remain fully operational to provide continuous access to safe drinking water. He further instructed officials to ensure the immediate provision of water wherever needed, stressing that water shortages in any area would not be tolerated.

The Deputy Commissioner also directed the relevant departments to maintain a 24-hour control room to continuously monitor the evolving heatwave situation. He instructed all government hospitals and basic health units to remain fully equipped with medicines, medical equipment, and trained staff for the treatment of heatstroke patients. Rescue 1122 was directed to remain fully prepared to respond to any emergency arising from the extreme weather conditions, while Assistant Commissioners of all tehsils were instructed to closely supervise heatwave management arrangements within their respective jurisdictions.

Appealing to the public, Syed Hassan Raza urged citizens to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities, particularly during the hottest hours of the day. He advised people to drink plenty of water and other fluids, wear loose-fitting, light-colored clothing, and take special care of children, senior citizens, women, and individuals with underlying health conditions. He further advised that anyone experiencing symptoms such as dizziness, fainting, excessive fatigue, or heatstroke should immediately seek medical assistance from the nearest hospital or contact Rescue 1122.

The meeting was informed that the district administration has arranged the provision of chilled drinking water at key public locations, including bus terminals, hospitals, and other busy public places. Officials also noted that the public awareness campaign on heatwave safety is being intensified to encourage citizens to adopt precautionary measures and protect themselves and their families from the adverse effects of extreme heat. The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Dr. Ayesha Khan, Assistant Commissioner Bahawalpur City Iqra Mubeen, Rescue 1122 In-charge Baqir Hussain, Chief Executive Officer Health Dr. Zeeshan Rauf, System Network Administrator Azeem Zeeshan, and other concerned officials. Assistant Commissioners from the remaining tehsils participated in the meeting via video link.

Rawalpindi: The Punjab Land Records Authority (PLRA) has issued the revised service charges for various land administration services for the fiscal year 2026-27 with immediate effect, introducing updated rates for domestic and overseas transactions.

According to the official notification, the newly approved fee structure encompasses a wide range of services including land record copies, mutations, and e-registration processes to ensure sustainable service delivery. Under the new schedule, an express service copy of land records (Fard, Mutation, Girdawri) via Mobile Arazi Record Centers (MARCs) and Universal Access has been set at Rs. 4,000.0, while the standard copy will cost Rs. 900.0. The fee for Naqal Arazi Record is fixed at Rs. 5,000.0, Green Property Certificate at Rs. 800.0, and copies of registered deeds at Rs. 1,400.0 per transaction.

The notification further states that regular mutations will be charged at Rs. 1,200.0, mutations entered through banks at Rs. 2,100.0, and express service mutations at Rs. 11,200.0. Bank verifications for land records will cost Rs. 1,000.0 for successful and Rs. 700.0 for unsuccessful transactions. For e-registration portals, the appointment of a commission is scheduled at Rs. 6,700.0.

Sale/purchase transactions will incur a fee of 0.1 percent of the land value subject to a minimum of Rs. 3,600.0, with all other e-registration transactions fixed flat at Rs. 3,600.0. Property Transfer System (PTS) transactions for housing societies and development authorities are priced at Rs. 3,000.0, while filing cases through the Revenue Courts Management System (RCMS) will cost Rs. 3,500.0.

For overseas Pakistanis accessing services through foreign missions, the PLRA has fixed an additional overseas service charge of 50.0 USD per transaction for the issuance of land records, while appointing a foreign mission as a local commission through e-registration will cost 100.0 USD.

Khairpur: Four persons were killed in a firing incident that took place in the Kingri area of Khairpur district of Sindh, on Thursday, reportedly over a marriage dispute, Police said.

Initial reports stated that the incident occurred following an altercation linked to a marriage-related issue, during which armed individuals opened fire, leaving four people dead on the spot, TV channels reported. Rescue team shifted the bodies to a nearby hospital for legal formalities. Police launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the firing and identify those involved in the incident.
