Kohat: On the special directives of District Police Officer (DPO) Kohat, Shehbaz Elahi, a large-scale search and strike operation was carried out in various areas of Gumbat Circle to strengthen law and order, monitor criminal elements, and ensure the safety of citizens.

The operation was led by DSP Gumbat Sajjad Haider, with active participation from SHO Gumbat Ayub Janan Khan, in-charges of Khushal Garh and Shadi Pur police posts, SHO Bilitang Waqar Khan, police line contingents, Darra Elite QRF, APC personnel, drone camera operators, and other police units.

Search and combing activities were conducted in Chorlaki, Khulgai Khula, Ango Khula, Ziarat Sheikh Allah Dad, Zameer Gul Dam, Shadi Pur, Pista Sanda, Ziarat Fateh Gul Baba, and adjoining hilly areas. Modern drone technology was employed for aerial surveillance of difficult terrain, while checking continued at multiple locations.

According to police, such operations aim to tighten the noose around criminals, absconders, and anti-social elements, instill public confidence, and ensure lasting peace in the region.

Meanwhile, in a separate development, Kohat police arrested a suspect wanted in a double murder case. Acting on the DPO’s directives, City Police Station SHO Saifullah Khan Khattak and his team utilized advanced technical resources and effective ground intelligence to apprehend Muhammad Afzal alias Bilal, son of Khan Afzal, resident of Mohammadzai, Kohat.

The accused was wanted in case No. 572 dated June 23, 2026, registered under sections 302, 109, 34, and 15-AA. He had been evading arrest after a double murder incident in Regi Shino Khel. The suspect has been shifted to City Police Station for further investigation by the investigation staff.

Gujrat: On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Gujrat Noor-ul-Ain Qureshi, the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) is continuing a special drainage operation across the city ahead of the monsoon season under the supervision of Managing Director WASA Kashan Hafeez Butt.

According to official sources, WASA teams are working round the clock to improve the city’s sewerage and drainage system. Under the operation, major drains, manholes and sewerage lines are being cleaned, desilted and cleared of blockages to ensure the smooth disposal of rainwater during the monsoon.

The sources said modern machinery and manpower were being utilized to keep the drainage system fully functional and provide citizens with a clean, safe and improved environment.

Haripur: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has earmarked Rs38.68 billion for 26 development projects in Haripur district under the “Prosperous Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Budget 2026-27,” aiming to accelerate infrastructure development and improve public services across the district.

According to official details, the projects span 11 key sectors, including highways, healthcare, education, clean drinking water, irrigation, urban development, tourism, sports, energy, and other essential public infrastructure.

The government said the initiatives are designed to enhance the quality of life of residents by providing modern facilities, while also creating employment opportunities, attracting investment, promoting business activities, and strengthening the local economy.

Officials said the development package is expected to usher Haripur into a new phase of sustainable growth and prosperity, describing the projects as a significant step toward building a modern and progressive district.

The development initiatives form part of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s “Prosperous Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Budget 2026-27,” which aims to ensure balanced development across the province under the slogan, “Development for Every District, Prosperity for Every Home.”

Faisalabad: The Punjab Highway Patrolling Police (PHP) Faisalabad region signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a private educational institute here on Thursday.

The agreement was signed by SSP Patrolling Mirza Anjum Kamal and Principal Eagle Eye Institute Syed Faheem Gillani.

The under MoU, 100 per cent tuition fee for IT courses will be waived for children of martyred and retired policemen, while 50 per cent fee concession will be given to children of in-service employees.

The patrolling police will also impart training on road safety and traffic rules as well as security measures to college students.

SSP Mirza Anjum Kamal has already signed MoUs with more than 25 different hospitals, labs and educational institutes and a large number of children of martyred, retired and in-service policemen were benefiting from these understandings.

Rawalpindi: Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) Rawalpindi has intensified maintenance and beautification work at Dhoke Kala Khan Family Park as part of its citywide initiative to improve public parks and provide a better recreational experience for residents.

The ongoing campaign, launched under the directions of PHA Managing Director Ahmed Hassan Ranjha, includes landscaping, grass cutting, seasonal flower plantation, tree trimming, cleaning of walking tracks, maintenance of children’s play areas, and overall improvement of the park’s facilities.

Ahmed Hassan Ranjha said the authority is committed to providing citizens with clean, green, and secure recreational spaces. He noted that Dhoke Kala Khan Family Park is widely used by families, senior citizens, women, and children for walking, exercise, and leisure, making its regular upkeep a priority.

He said the authority is using modern horticultural techniques, including efficient irrigation, timely fertilization, and plant protection measures, to keep the park lush and attractive throughout the year. Routine inspections are also being conducted to ensure high standards of cleanliness and the proper functioning of public amenities such as benches, lighting, swings, and walking tracks.

The managing director appealed the visitors to cooperate with the authority by keeping the park clean, disposing of litter in waste bins, protecting plants and flowers, and observing park rules.

He added that the ongoing work at Dhoke Kala Khan Family Park reflects PHA Rawalpindi’s broader vision of creating greener, well-maintained, and environmentally sustainable public spaces across the city.

Sukkur: Director of Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), Dr. Raheem Bux Bhatti, on Thursday inspected the newly established largest Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for the Medicine Department at GIMS and issued directives for its early operationalization.

During the visit, Dr. Bhatti was accompanied by Prof. Dr. Abdul Wahab Dogar and other senior faculty members. He reviewed the infrastructure, medical equipment, patient bed capacity, and workflow arrangements of the ICU.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Raheem Bux Bhatti said that the establishment of this state-of-the-art ICU is a landmark project of the Government of Sindh aimed at strengthening critical care services at GIMS.

He emphasized that the facility will play a vital role in providing timely and advanced treatment to critically ill patients from across Sindh and the country.

‘This ICU will further enhance GIMS’s capacity to deliver world-class, free healthcare services to the people. Our priority is to ensure that every patient receives the best possible care with compassion and professionalism,’ the Director stated.

Prof. Dr. Abdul Wahab Dogar appreciated the visionary leadership of Dr. Bhatti and termed the new ICU a significant milestone in the development of tertiary care services at GIMS.

The new ICU is equipped with modern ventilators, cardiac monitors, and other life-support systems, and is expected to become fully functional in the coming days.
