Dera ismail khan: The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) continued its crackdown against electricity theft and removed 45 illegal direct hook connections during an operation conducted on the 11KV Daman Mill Feeder under the Daraban Sub-Division.

According to PESCO officials, the anti-theft operation targeted areas of Hadi City and Zafar Abad, where widespread illegal electricity consumption through direct hooks was detected.

During the operation, one 50 KVA transformer and one 100 KVA transformer supplying electricity through illegal direct hook connections were disconnected. Officials said around 30 direct hook connections with no legal electricity meters were found connected to the transformers.

The enforcement team also disconnected eight spans of low-tension (LT) line located behind Hadi City, where a large number of illegal direct hook connections were operating without any authorized electricity connections.

In total, 45 illegal direct hook connections were removed during the operation.

PESCO reiterated its commitment to eliminating electricity theft and urged consumers to obtain legal electricity connections, warning that strict action would continue against those involved in power theft.

Peshawar: Right to Information (RTI) Commission Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reduced the backlog of pending complaints by hearing more than 600 RTI complaints during the past six weeks.

In result of these hearings, more than 300 cases were disposed of, as various public bodies provided citizen-requested information under the KP RTI Act.

Among the prominent public bodies that provided information were the Provincial Assembly Secretariat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Public Service Commission, Culture and Tourism Authority, Directorate of Emergency Services (Rescue 1122), Minerals Development Department, Lady Reading Hospital Peshawr, University of Peshawar, Khyber Medical University, Islamia College University Peshawar, Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, Bacha Khan Medical Complex Swabi, and several other government institutions across the province.

The requested information covered a wide range of public interest matters, including bills introduced by Women Members of the Provincial Assembly, seniority lists of Assistant Secretaries, academic credentials of lecturers recruited under a 2021 advertisement, details of vehicles, fuel expenditure, salary and allowance details, domicile certificates of employees, inquiry reports, purchase orders, and details of students selected under open merit and quota systems.

In various other cases the Commission also directed several public bodies to provide the requested information within 10 days.

Hyderabad: In a third identical robbery in a paint shop in the limits of Cantt police station, 3 robbers broke open padlocks of a shop in Saddar area and looted cash and valuable items from the shop here on Friday.

The SHO Cant informed that the robbery was carried out in the shop named Ammar traders, owned by Hatim Bohri.

According to the SHO, the robbery was carried out early in the morning by 3 robbers whose faces were covered as show in a CCTV footage.

The local traders association staged a protest in reaction to the crime, demanding enhanced security and recovery of their cash and valuable items.

Two similar robberies occurred in the same market’s 3 paint shops in December, 2025, and one paint shop in August, 2025.

The association’s office bearers including Moiz Abbass and Zarrar Khan claimed that the police failed to apprehend the culprits and recover the looted amount of the previous 2 robberies.

Faisalabad: Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) has expedited the rollout of modern Information Technology (IT) infrastructure across its operational network as part of a comprehensive digital transformation initiative aimed at improving institutional efficiency, strengthening e-governance and delivering faster, more transparent and customer-friendly electricity services.

FESCO Spokesman Muhammad Saeed Raza said that this initiative is being implemented on the directions of FESCO Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Engineer Muhammad Amir to align the company’s operational framework with modern technological requirements, equip employees with advanced digital tools and further enhance service delivery for electricity consumers.

He said that the company has supplied modern computer hardware to the offices responsible for E-Operations (E-Ops), Customer Complaint Management System Plus (CCMS+), Customer Facilitation Centers (CFCs) and Complaint and Control Center projects, enabling them to provide more efficient, transparent and high-quality services.

He said that new equipment had been distributed in phases to various circles, divisions, subdivisions, revenue offices and Metering and Testing (MandT) offices. The hardware includes desktop computers, laptops, uninterrupted power supply (UPS) units, LaserJet printers, smart LED displays and Android mobile phones equipped with Mobile Device Management (MDM) software, he added.

He said that the latest equipment had been specifically allocated for E-Operations, CCMS+ and other IT-based projects to improve field operations, facilitate real-time monitoring and strengthen the mechanism for prompt registration and resolution of consumer complaints.

He described the initiative as a significant milestone in FESCO’s drive towards digitalization, e-governance and the adoption of modern information technology.

The deployment of advanced computer systems and digital equipment had substantially improved office productivity, data management, online monitoring, complaint handling and timely service delivery, he added.

He said that the new IT facilities had not only enhanced the professional capacity of employees but had also empowered field staff with real-time access to operational data, enabling them to register complaints instantly and resolve issues on the spot.

These improvements had contributed to a more efficient electricity distribution system while strengthening consumer confidence in the utility’s services, he added.

FESCO employees also welcomed the initiative, describing it as a major step towards institutional modernization.

They said that availability of modern computers and other IT equipment had significantly enhanced organizational efficiency, made the consumer complaint redressal system more effective and facilitated the successful implementation of the E-Operations and CCMS+ projects across the company’s operational network.

Abbottabad: At least 20 people, including 14 children under the age of 12, were injured in a horrific road accident after a Suzuki passenger vehicle lost control and plunged into a roadside ravine on the Dhamtor-Havelian Bypass on Saturday.

According to Rescue 1122, the victims, who belong to Haripur, were returning home after a family picnic in Galiyat when the accident occurred. Rescue teams recovered all the injured passengers from the vehicle, administered first aid at the scene, and shifted them to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital, Abbottabad.

Following medical examination, the condition of four children was declared critical. They were referred to Ayub Teaching Hospital (ATH), Abbottabad, in Rescue 1122 ambulances for advanced medical care, while the remaining injured continued to receive treatment at DHQ Hospital. Some of the injured children required emergency surgical intervention and were shifted to the operating theatre.

Ayub Teaching Hospital (ATH) sources said eight injured children were later admitted to the Emergency Department of Ayub Teaching Hospital. The injured children were identified as Aqsa, Asma Noor, Samiullah, Javeria, Zainab, Zain, Siyam and Ibrahim. Upon their arrival, doctors, nurses and paramedical staff immediately initiated emergency treatment. Initial medical assessments indicated that three of the admitted children were in critical condition, while the others were undergoing detailed evaluation and treatment.

On the advice of the attending physicians, the injured children were shifted to the Surgical and Orthopedic wards for further treatment, including surgery where required, and specialized medical care. Teams of specialist doctors remain engaged in their treatment and are closely monitoring their condition.

Deputy Director of Ayub Teaching Hospital, Dr. Muhammad Ilyas, personally supervised the emergency response and reviewed treatment arrangements alongside on-duty doctors, nurses and other medical staff. He directed hospital officials to ensure the provision of timely and the highest possible standard of medical care to all injured children.

The hospital administration stated that the condition of all admitted patients is being continuously monitored and that every possible medical facility is being provided to ensure their best possible recovery.

Sargodha: An Additional and Sessions Court on Friday awarded the death penalty to a man after convicting him of murdering another man over a domestic dispute.

According to the prosecution,the convict,Muhammad Afzal was also ordered to pay a fine of Rs.1 million.

Police said Muhammad Afzal had shot dead Muhammad Afzaal within the limits of the City Police Station following a domestic dispute.

A case was registered under Sections 302,109,148 and 149 of the Pakistan Penal Code and the challan was submitted before the trial court after completion of the investigation.

After hearing arguments from both sides and examining the evidence on record,the Additional and Sessions Judge found the accused guilty and handed down the death sentence along with the fine.
