Kohat: A 17-year-old boy drowned in the Indus River near the Khushal Garh area of the district on Friday, the official sources said.

The body identified as Mohammad, son of Jan Alam and a resident of Waziristan.

The Rescue 1122 team later recovered his body, they added.

In a separate incident, the authorities responded to reports of gunfire in the Jamal Mela area of Shakardara.

The security officials reached the scene to assess the situation and secure the area.

The motive behind the shooting and whether there were any casualties were not immediately known, as investigations were ongoing.

Dera ismail khan: Assistant Commissioner Paharpur Shahab Ahmad Khan visited the Temporary Water Rescue Point (TWRP) established by Rescue 1122 in Paharpur on Friday to review preparedness measures under the monsoon emergency plan and inspect safety arrangements at vulnerable locations.

The assistant commissioner, accompanied by Station House Incharge Jamshed Ullah, inspected the temporary rescue facility, reviewed the readiness of Rescue 1122 personnel, and examined the availability of water rescue equipment deployed for emergency response during the monsoon season.

Following the inspection, the assistant commissioner and the Rescue 1122 team conducted a joint patrol of riverine and other sensitive areas to assess potential risks and ensure effective implementation of precautionary measures.

During the visit, members of the public were advised to avoid bathing at unsafe locations, refrain from using unregistered boats, and strictly follow safety guidelines to prevent accidents.

The officials also stressed the importance of close coordination among all relevant departments to ensure the effective implementation of the monsoon emergency plan and a swift response to any emergency situation.

Dera ismail khan: Rescue 1122 has organized a comprehensive fire safety awareness and training session for the local business community to enhance emergency preparedness and reduce fire-related risks in markets and commercial areas.

The training session, held at the National Club Dera Ismail Khan, was conducted under the supervision of District Emergency Officer Muhammad Arif Khan in collaboration with non-governmental organizations..

During the session, Rescue 1122 officials provided practical demonstrations on the common causes of market fires, preventive measures, safe evacuation procedures, and effective techniques for controlling fires during the initial stages.

Participants were also trained in the correct use of different types of fire extinguishers to improve their ability to respond to emergencies before rescue teams arrive.

The participants were advised to immediately contact Rescue 1122 in the event of any emergency to ensure a swift response and minimize loss of life and property.

Addressing the session, Rescue 1122 officials reaffirmed the department’s commitment to building a safer community through continuous public awareness and training initiatives.

They emphasized that equipping traders with fire safety knowledge was essential to preventing disasters and protecting lives and businesses.

Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Relief, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Aqibullah Khan has directed all relevant departments to further strengthen coordination and inter-agency cooperation to ensure a timely and effective response to any emergency during the ongoing monsoon season.

During visits to the Rescue 1122 and Civil Defence offices in Swabi, undertaken on the directives of the Chief Minister, the minister reviewed preparedness measures and precautionary arrangements for the monsoon season.

He stressed the need for proactive planning and the effective use of all available resources to safeguard lives and property.

The minister inspected the Rescue 1122 control room, emergency operations, fire and rescue units, water rescue services, medical facilities, vehicles and emergency equipment.

Appreciating the professional capabilities and prompt response of Rescue 1122 personnel, Aqibullah Khan said the service was playing a commendable role in providing efficient and timely emergency assistance to the public.

Later, he visited the Civil Defence office in Swabi, where Rescue 1122, Civil Defence and the district administration jointly briefed him on disaster preparedness and monsoon response arrangements.

The minister instructed Civil Defence officials to remain vigilant, maintain close coordination with all relevant agencies and ensure an immediate and effective response to any untoward incident to protect the lives and property of citizens.

Tank: Deputy Commissioner Jamshed Khan has awarded appreciation certificates to officers and personnel of various government departments in recognition of their outstanding services and coordinated efforts during Muharram-ul-Haram.

The ceremony was held at the deputy commissioner’s office under the provincial government’s public service agenda.

Mirpur (ajk): The convoy of former Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas allegedly came under an armed attack by unidentified assailants in Tain Dhalkot town of Rawalakot district on Friday, police sources confirmed.

Authoritative sources, told reporter Friday that the incident occurred while Sardar Tanveer Ilyas’ convoy was passing through an area of the Poonch Division. Unidentified individuals reportedly opened indiscriminate fire on the convoy, resulting in the death of one security guard at the scene and injuries to several others.

The injured were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital, where they are receiving medical treatment.

Sources stated that Sardar Tanveer Ilyas was traveling in a bulletproof vehicle at the time of the attack and remained unharmed. Initial reports suggest that the assault was carried out in a well-coordinated manner. However, following a prompt response by security personnel, the attackers managed to flee the scene.

In the aftermath of the incident, security has been placed on high alert across the area. Law enforcement agencies have launched a search operation, while checkpoints have been established at various locations to assist in the apprehension of the suspects.
