MONTREAL, July 28, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The CSL Group (“CSL”), a global leader in responsible marine transportation services, announces the delivery of MV Wontanara, the first of five state-of-the-art transhipment shuttle vessels (TSVs) commissioned to service the Simandou iron ore project in Guinea, one of the world’s largest mining and infrastructure developments.

MV Wontanara Delivery 2026

The delivery of MV Wontanara marks the first of five purpose-built TSVs designed and engineered by CSL for the Simandou project. Together, the vessels will form the world’s fastest and most efficient transshipment fleet.

Designed by CSL and built at CSSC Chengxi Shipyard, this groundbreaking fleet of TSVs combines a 41,800-tonne deadweight capacity with a dual-boom self-unloading system that can transfer up to 12,000 tonnes of iron ore per hour, making it the fastest and most efficient TSV fleet in the world.

Purpose-built to move large volumes of iron ore efficiently between river terminals and offshore bulk carriers, the TSV design features a shallow-draft hull optimized for river navigation, five azimuth thrusters that deliver exceptional manoeuvrability and precision, and bi-directional navigation capability that enhances both safety and operational efficiency.

“The advanced design and cargo-handling capabilities of this fleet reflect CSL’s expertise in transforming complex logistics challenges into practical, high-performance maritime solutions,” said Louis Martel, CSL President and CEO. “Working closely with our customer, we designed an integrated transhipment system that enables safe, efficient and continuous high-volume exports in shallow-water environments.”

CSL led the development of this transhipment solution from concept design through to engineering, construction and delivery. Leveraging its strong track record in self-unloading vessel design and transhipment operations, CSL established the fleet’s technical requirements, led the engineering and design phases, and provided oversight throughout construction.

MV Wontanara is the first of five TSVs that will enter service in support of the Simandou project, with the balance of the fleet scheduled for delivery over the coming months.

The CSL Group is a world class provider of complex marine solutions and the largest owner and operator of self-unloading ships in the world. Headquartered in Montreal with operations throughout the Americas, Australia, Europe and Africa, CSL delivers millions of tonnes of cargo annually for customers in the construction, steel, energy and agri-food sectors.

Bitget Supports UNICEF Game Changers Coalition Expansion Into Bangladesh, Indonesia, and Bolivia

Bitget Supports UNICEF Game Changers Coalition Expansion Into Bangladesh, Indonesia, and Bolivia

VICTORIA, Seychelles, July 28, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The UNICEF Game Changers Coalition (GCC) now expands into Bangladesh, Indonesia, and Bolivia. The program, which delivers future-ready skills including digital education, AI and financial literacy to young people through video game development, is supported by Bitget, the world’s largest Universal Exchange (UEX) as part of a three-year partnership launched in 2025.

The expansion brings the initiative’s footprint to 11 countries globally, continuing its broader effort to improve access to digital education across emerging markets. GCC has so far been implemented across Armenia, Brazil, Cambodia, India, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Morocco, South Africa, and the newly added Bangladesh, Indonesia, and Bolivia.

Bitget joined the coalition in 2025 as part of a three-year collaboration with UNICEF to support financial literacy, including blockchain, and digital skills for young people, especially girls, in emerging economies. Through the partnership, Bitget contributes educational resources including blockchain-focused learning content and access to mentors from the Web3 ecosystem to support GCC programming.

The coalition has expanded rapidly over the past year, reaching more than 642,000 young people, parents, and teachers globally, with girls accounting for 52% of participants. More than 20,000 video games have been created by young people through the GCC curriculum.

Bitget’s team witnessed the program’s real impact during Cambodia’s National Game Jam in December 2025, where over 1,000 young participants took part in a 48-hour challenge to create socially impactful video games. Cambodian teams had won four of seven categories in the previous global UNICEF Game Jam, a 40-day initiative through which young creators in emerging economies built original video games with mentorship sessions and a self-paced online course. “In Cambodia, UNICEF gave us a glimpse into the youth’s aptitude. From coding garbage segregation to healthy eating, they built a range of real-world creative games,” said Simran Alphonso, Head of Public Relations at Bitget. “With strong teaching skills of teachers, we’re positive about our upcoming course and future endeavors which will support these leaders of tomorrow,” she added.

“One of the reasons this partnership means so much to me is because I’ve seen firsthand how quickly young people thrive when they’re given the right opportunities,” said Gracy Chen, CEO of Bitget. “I still teach part-time at HKUST because it keeps me connected to what the next generation needs. Seeing UNICEF’s Game Changers Coalition expand into three new markets means many more young people, especially girls, will have the chance to build those skills early. That’s incredibly meaningful to me.”

“Expanding the Game Changers Coalition into Bangladesh, Indonesia, and Bolivia is a milestone in our mission to equip young people, especially girls, with 21st century STEAM and financial skills to shape the future. With partners like Bitget, we’re not just scaling education; we’re fostering inclusivity, building a pipeline of women leaders, and unlocking economic empowerment across emerging markets,” said Sandra Visscher, Executive Director of UNICEF Luxembourg.

Condolence reference held in memory of Professor Dr Abdul Qadir (A. Q. ) Ansari

Hyderabad: Hyderabad Division Commissioner Fayyaz Hussain Abbasi said that individuals like Dr A. Q. Ansari are institutions in themselves, guiding society through their knowledge, research and character.

He expressed these views while addressing a condolence reference held in memory of Professor Dr Abdul Qadir (A. Q. ) Ansari, the founding Vice Chancellor of Sindh Agriculture University and former Vice Chancellor of the University of Sindh.

He said that Dr Ansari chose to serve his homeland and people instead of pursuing better opportunities abroad, dedicating his academic and research abilities to the nation’s progress.

The event was organised jointly by the Sindhi Language Authority and the University of Sindh at Dr N. A. Baloch Hall.

Prominent educationists, intellectuals and scholars from across Sindh paid glowing tribute to Dr Ansari’s outstanding contributions to education, research, institution-building and academic administration.

Commissioner Abbasi said that personalities like Dr A. Q. Ansari serve as institutions that enlighten society with knowledge and awareness.

He noted that after completing his PhD, Dr Ansari could have settled abroad and enjoyed a prosperous life, but instead chose to bring his knowledge back to his own people.

He described Dr Ansari as a multidimensional personality who taught the values of discipline, humility and selfless service.

He emphasised that universities should regularly organise such programmes in their auditoriums so that students and teachers can learn from the lives and achievements of such remarkable personalities.

Presiding over the event, University of Sindh Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Fatah Marri said that Dr A. Q. Ansari was an honest and upright individual who laid the foundations of major institutions, with Sindh Agriculture University, Tando Jam, being one of the finest examples.

He recalled that the university buildings were constructed under Dr Ansari’s supervision, yet his name does not appear on any of them because he always maintained that they were built with public funds, not his personal wealth.

He said Dr Ansari was an eminent educationist, agricultural scientist, researcher, writer and administrator, and proposed the establishment of a chair in his name while stressing the need to continue organising such programmes for future generations.

Sindh Madressatul Islam University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Mujeeb Sahrai said it was a historic day when three colleges and campuses were simultaneously upgraded into universities, namely Mehran University, Sindh Agriculture University and NED University Karachi.

He said, it was a period full of challenges, but Dr S. M. Qureshi, Dr A. Q. Ansari and Dr A. M. Akhund faced those challenges with determination, resulting in the successful institutions that exist today. He added that Dr Ansari’s services were vast and enduring. Having himself served as Vice Chancellor of Sindh Agriculture University, he acknowledged that the university’s foundations had been laid by Dr Ansari and called for academic chairs to be established in his honour.

Sindh Agriculture University Tando Jam Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Altaf Ali Siyal said that Dr Ansari, as the university’s founding Vice Chancellor, demonstrated how a new institution could be successfully developed.

He established three faculties that remained intact for four decades, while the fourth faculty has only recently been established. He described Dr Ansari as an outstanding researcher and administrator whose books and research papers continue to testify to his scholarly excellence. His research, he said, extended beyond his own discipline and greatly benefited society and the public.

Chairman of the Sindhi Language Authority Dr Sher Mehrani said that Dr Ansari possessed countless qualities and seemed to have been born to work. Although he was a scientist, he compiled an excellent dictionary of scientific terminology to connect people with scientific knowledge, seeking guidance from scholars and literary figures in the process. He added that true honour comes through one’s services to society. Despite heading several institutions, Dr Ansari never stayed in official residences and remained a humble public servant.

Dr Ansari’s son, Special Secretary to the Government of Sindh Zain Ansari, said that what matters in life is not how many moments one lives, but how much life is contained in every moment. He said every moment of his father’s life had purpose.

Dr Ansari was extremely punctual, even reporting to work at 7:30 a. m. the day after his wedding. He added that his father belonged not only to his family but to the entire nation, as those who attain greatness become assets of society.

Renowned researcher Dr Muhammad Ali Manjhi said that although today’s scientific and digital age offers abundant resources, Dr Ansari rendered exceptional services at a time when facilities were extremely limited. He successfully led several institutions and also made valuable contributions to the Mohenjo-daro Committee.

Agricultural researcher Dr Ismail Kumbhar described Dr Ansari as a distinguished scientist, researcher and administrator who laid the foundations of academic and research traditions. He said such personalities are born once in centuries and continue to inspire generations.

Director of the Allama I. I. Qazi Chair at the University of Sindh, Dr Makhmoor Bukhari, said that the services and ideas of personalities who contribute to nation-building should be passed on to younger generations. He said Dr Ansari spent his entire life devoted to knowledge, truth, principles and integrity while always remaining connected to his people.

The condolence reference was also addressed by Dr Khalil, Professor Rashida Bhatti, Dr Naheed Baloch and Professor Anwar Ali Shah.

Six-year-old girl killed in roof collapse after heavy rain near Mailsi

Burewala: A six-year-old girl was killed and five members of her family were injured after the roof of a dilapidated house collapsed during heavy rainfall near Mailsi, rescue officials said on Monday.

The incident occurred in Adda Hari Chand on Karam Pur Road, where the roof of the house suddenly gave way, trapping family members beneath the debris, according to Rescue 1122.

Rescue teams responded to the scene, pulled the victims from the rubble and provided first aid before transporting the injured to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Mailsi for treatment.

Rescue officials said preliminary findings indicated that rainwater had accumulated on the aging girder-and-T-iron roof, causing it to collapse.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
