Dera ismail khan: District Police Officer (DPO) Dera Ismail Khan, Ziauddin Ahmad, distributed commendation certificates and cash rewards among police officers and personnel in recognition of their outstanding performance during the security arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram.

Speaking on the occasion, the DPO lauded the officers and personnel for their professionalism, dedication and exemplary services in maintaining law and order throughout the sacred month.

He said the peaceful observance of Muharram was made possible through the tireless efforts, commitment and coordinated performance of the police force, adding that their sacrifices and unwavering resolve to safeguard the lives and property of citizens were highly commendable.

Ziauddin Ahmad expressed confidence that the officers and personnel would continue to perform their duties with the same level of commitment and professionalism in the future.

Attock: Attock Khurd Police have foiled an alleged inter-provincial drug smuggling attempt, seizing more than 10 kilograms of hashish and arresting a suspect during a checkpoint operation, police said on Saturday.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector Khanzada Shahroze as part of an ongoing campaign against narcotics trafficking. During routine checking at the Search Park checkpoint in Attock Khurd, police stopped a speeding rickshaw and recovered more than 10 kilograms of hashish concealed in the vehicle’s storage compartment.

The driver, identified as Muhammad Aftab, son of Muhammad Tahir and a resident of Lachi tehsil in Kohat district, was arrested at the scene. Police registered a case against the suspect under the Anti-Narcotics Act and launched further investigations into the alleged smuggling network.

District Police Officer (DPO) Sardar Mawara Khan praised the police team for the successful operation, reaffirming the department’s commitment to combating drug trafficking. He said Attock Police would continue indiscriminate action against narcotics dealers and smugglers to protect young people from the harmful effects of drugs, adding that all offenders would be dealt with in accordance with the law.

Peshawar: City administration on Saturday launched a crackdown against LPG profiteers, arresting 22 retailers and sealing two LPG plants in Hayatabad and Shah Alam areas for overcharging and violating official price lists.

In a statement issued by Deputy Commissioner, Sanaullah Khan stated that the crackdown has been launched across Peshawar City, Shah Alam, Saddar, Hayatabad and Matni areas. During inspection official price lists, storage standards, and measurement practices were reviewed while gathering direct feedback from public.

The operation revealed widespread violations, including failure to display official price lists and overcharging customers.

DC Sanaullah Khan said that exploitation of public regarding LPG will not be tolerated under any circumstances. All administrative officers have been directed to maintain continuous monitoring of markets.

Furthermore, DC has appealed to public to report any instances of overcharging, hoarding, or illegal profiteering to district administration immediately so that timely action can be taken against responsible elements.

Chiniot: Deputy Commissioner Ayesha Rizwan held an open court at her office on Saturday, hearing public complaints and directing officials to take immediate action as part of the Punjab government’s open-door policy aimed at ensuring prompt resolution of citizens’ issues.

During the session, the deputy commissioner reviewed applications relating to sanitation, encroachments, healthcare, education, drainage and other civic matters. She instructed the relevant departments to resolve all complaints on merit within the prescribed timeframe, warning that negligence or unnecessary delays in addressing public grievances would not be tolerated.

Ayesha Rizwan said providing timely relief to citizens remained the district administration’s top priority and that government offices would continue to remain accessible to the public in line with the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. She also urged district officers to remain active in the field to ensure effective resolution of public issues.

The deputy commissioner directed officials to treat visitors with courtesy, listen carefully to their concerns and ensure practical and lasting solutions to strengthen public confidence in government institutions. She said the Punjab government was committed to improving basic public services, promoting transparency and good governance, adding that any laxity in resolving citizens’ problems would be dealt with strictly.

Faisalabad: The USD 1.7 million ‘SAFER PLUS Clean Energy Project’ was formally inaugurated at the University of Kamalia during the University’s 13th Syndicate meeting.

The university spokesman said on Saturday that Provincial Minister for Higher Education Rana Sikandar Hayat chaired the syndicate meeting held at Punjab Higher Education Commission Office Lahore.

Giving some details, he said that SAFER PLUS is an international clean energy and applied research project aimed at converting agricultural residues and agro-waste into clean industrial fuel, electricity, heat, and value-added organic products.

The project would be established at the University of Kamalia as a clean energy demonstrator and will contribute to the effective utilization of agricultural waste, industrial decarbonization, environmental protection, and sustainable regional development, he added.

He said that the project is being implemented through an international consortium comprising the University of Kamalia, Northumbria University UK, Eco Research Ltd UK, KnowTex Solutions, and other partners.

The project has been approved under Innovate UK’s Energy Catalyst Round 11 and is of particular importance for Pakistan’s energy, agriculture, textile, and environmental sectors, he added.

Senior representatives of international partners attended the inauguration ceremony, including Professor Louise Bracken, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Northumbria University; Dr Jibran Khaliq, Associate Professor at Northumbria University and Project Lead; Dr. Shahid Rasul, Northumbria University; and Dr Muhammad Saghir, Chief Executive Officer, Eco Research Ltd. From the University of Kamalia, in addition to Vice Chancellor the University of Kamalia Professor Dr Yasir Nawab, Dr Sarmad Masood is also a member of the project team.

Provincial Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat congratulated the University of Kamalia and the consortium partners on the launch of a project of national and international significance.

He said that clean energy, climate resilience, skills development, and industry-linked research are among the key priorities for the future of higher education in Punjab.

Sheikhupura: In a remarkable demonstration of interfaith harmony, the Qaumi Paigham-e-Aman Committee and leaders from different schools of thought and faiths on Saturday announced the reconstruction and preservation of a Sikh dharamsala in Farooqabad, Sheikhupura, whose dilapidated wall had recently collapsed.

The leaders unanimously declared that the dharamsala will be restored and maintained precisely in its original historical state.

The announcement was made during a joint visit to Farooqabad by central religious leaders to express solidarity with the Sikh community.

They said that the Constitution of Pakistan clearly defined the rights of both Muslims and non-Muslims living in the country.

They emphasized that the Government of Pakistan will, under no circumstances, permit any change to the status or ownership of any temple, mosque, gurdwara, dharamsala, or land belonging to any particular religion or sect.

The leaders rejected the baseless propaganda initiated by India regarding the Farooqabad dharamsala and clarified that the dharamsala remains strictly under the regulations of the Sikh community, and its legal status and character will remain exactly as it was prior to the creation of Pakistan.
