Sialkot: Police traced a girl who had gone missing within the limits of City Pasrur Police Station and reunited her with her family, officials said on Saturday.

According to police, the child, identified as Zohra(5) went missing in Pasrur city following which a search operation was launched.

A police team,using modern technology and human intelligence,traced the girl after hectic efforts.

The recovered child was later handed over to her parents,police said.

Khanewal: An additional sessions court awarded life imprisonment to a man for murder and robbery.

Additional Sessions Judge Kabirwala Sajeeda Akhtar heard case No. 486/19, registered at Kabirwala Sadar police station. Based on lawyers’ arguments, witness statements and evidence, the court convicted Muhammad Jaffar, son of Muhammad Nawaz, caste Turgarh, of murdering Zulfiqar and committing robbery.

The convict was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder and ordered to pay Rs 500,000 as compensation to the legal heirs of the deceased, failing which he will undergo an additional six months of simple imprisonment.

Under Section 394, he was awarded 10 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 20,000. Under Section 411, he was given three years rigorous imprisonment.

The court ordered that all sentences would run concurrently and issued warrants directing the Superintendent of Khanewal District Jail to take the convict into custody and ensure implementation of the sentence.

Sargodha: Punjab Minister for Industry and Commerce Chaudhry Shafay Hussain on Saturday approved a Rs.570 million grant for the restoration of basic infrastructure at the Sargodha Small Industrial Estate during a meeting with a delegation of the Sargodha Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI).

According to a press release issued by SCCI,the delegation was led by President Khawaja Yasir Qayyum and included former president Mirza Fazal-ur-Rehman and Board of Management Small Industrial Estate President Muhammad Iftikhar.

The meeting discussed issues related to the sustainable development of local industry and challenges being faced by the small industrial estate,which houses over 100 industrial units.

Briefing the minister,SCCI President Khawaja Yasir Qayyum said the estate was in a deteriorated condition due to lack of basic facilities,including poor drainage,damaged roads and water scarcity,which had discouraged investment and led to the conversion of industrial units into warehouses.

Accepting the demand for immediate rehabilitation,Chaudhry Shafay Hussain approved the Rs.570 million grant and assured that he would soon visit Sargodha to inaugurate development work.

The minister also announced that the Punjab government,in collaboration with the Bank of Punjab (BoP) would launch a Rs.300 billion easy-loan scheme in October to boost industrialization.

The scheme will include interest-free loans of up to Rs.100 million, loans of up to Rs.1 billion at a three per cent markup and financing of up to Rs.5 billion at a five per cent markup.

He further said a job placement portal would be established at the Punjab Board of Technical Education (PBTE) to link skilled labor with industry,adding that Sargodha and Multan chambers should jointly organize mango festivals in Spain and other European countries to promote Pakistani agricultural exports.

Attock: Punjab’s intensified crackdown on the illegal movement of wheat and flour into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has significantly disrupted cross-border smuggling, with the provincial Food Department intercepting 78 vehicles and seizing around 1,470 metric tonnes of wheat and flour during operations over the past six weeks, officials said on Saturday.

The campaign, launched to safeguard food supplies and prevent artificial shortages in Punjab, has focused on strengthening surveillance along the Attock and Rawalpindi border with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Authorities have established permanent monitoring points at key crossing locations in Taxila and Hassan Abdal, where suspected vehicles are subjected to rigorous inspections using enhanced screening procedures to detect concealed consignments.

Officials said Food Department teams have carried out daily enforcement operations at the border checkpoints, confiscating multiple consignments of wheat, flour and wheat bran allegedly being transported illegally from flour mills into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. They added that the heightened vigilance has made smuggling increasingly difficult, forcing traffickers to abandon several attempts.

The sustained operation has helped maintain a steady supply of quality flour in local markets across Attock and Rawalpindi, according to officials. Traders and consumers have also reported improved market stability, with flour remaining available at government-approved prices despite continued enforcement against illegal cross-border movement.

Dera ismail khan: Police successfully repulsed a late-night attack by militants belonging to Fitna al-Khawarij on Yarik Police Station in Dera Ismail Khan, forcing the assailants to flee after an intense exchange of fire, a police spokesman said on Saturday.

According to the spokesman, the attackers launched a coordinated assault from three directions using both light and heavy weapons. Police personnel deployed at the station responded promptly with effective retaliatory fire and displayed exceptional courage, thwarting the attack.

The exchange of fire continued for nearly 40 minutes. No casualties or property damage were reported during the incident.

Following the attack, heavy police reinforcements, including personnel from Al-Barq, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), and the Rapid Response Force (RRF), reached the area and launched a search operation to trace the fleeing militants.

District Police Officer (DPO) Dera Ismail Khan, Ziauddin Ahmed, commended the police personnel for their bravery, professionalism and timely response, stating that their effective action successfully foiled the terrorist attack on the police station.

Kot addu: A case has been registered against five under-trial prisoners for brawling inside a police van while being brought back to a lock-up after a court hearing.

According to the police, the prisoners were being transported from the court of Abdul Manan Qureshi to the lock-up when they exchanged abuses and came to blows. Two prisoners, Rashid and Kashif, were injured, with Rashid receiving a head injury and Kashif sustaining scratches on his arm, stomach and head. The prisoners also allegedly manhandled police personnel.

Lock-up in-charge Irshad got a case registered at Kot Addu City police station against prisoners Rashid, Kashif, Farhan, Zahid Rasheed and Fateh over the previous day’s incident.
