Faisalabad: Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) Director General Muhammad Asif Chaudhary said that the permissible rights of all FDA employees, including the workman staff, would be fully protected to enable them to perform their official duties with peace of mind and complete dedication.

He emphasized that the institution’s progress and improved performance are closely linked to the welfare of its employees and therefore resolving their issues remains a top priority.

He expressed these views during a meeting with office-bearers of the Inqalabi Workers Union. The meeting was attended by Union President Sadaqat Baloch, General Secretary Muneeb Riaz, Chairman Sheikh Imran and other union representatives.

The director general listened to complaints and concerns of the workmen employees in detail and announced on-spot resolution of several important issues.

He directed the concerned officers to ensure that all employment-related matters concerning workman employees are dealt with strictly in accordance with the relevant laws, service rules and regulations so that no employee is subjected to injustice.

Asif Chaudhary said that the foremost priority of the administration is to provide a healthy, fair, and supportive working environment where every employee feels secure and respected.

He reaffirmed that all genuine demands would be addressed on the basis of law and merit while every possible measure would also be taken to enhance employees’ professional capacity and welfare.

He further stated that the FDA is a strong public service institution whose success depends on the hard work and dedication of its employees.

He added that mutual trust, consultation, and cooperation between the administration and employees would be further strengthened to ensure the delivery of better public services.

Chiniot: Regional Police Officer (RPO) Faisalabad Sohail Akhtar Sukhera on Saturday lauded the contribution of Peace Committee members and religious scholars in maintaining law and order during Muharram-ul-Haram, saying their efforts had played a vital role in promoting religious harmony and ensuring a peaceful environment across the district.

Speaking at a ceremony held at the District Police Office during his visit to Chiniot, the RPO, accompanied by District Police Officer (DPO) Dr. Naveed Atif, distributed certificates of appreciation to members of the Peace Committee in recognition of their services. Special prayers were also offered for lasting peace, law and order, and the country’s security.

Sukhera said the Peace Committee and religious scholars had demonstrated a spirit of tolerance, unity and cooperation throughout Muharram, helping the police maintain public order and strengthen interfaith harmony. He praised their constructive role in fostering peaceful coexistence during the religious observances.

The RPO also presented certificates of appreciation to police officers and volunteers who showed outstanding performance during Muharram security duties. Congratulating the recipients, he urged police personnel to continue serving with dedication, professionalism and a commitment to public service, adding that hardworking and dutiful officers would always be recognized and encouraged.

Hyderabad: Sindh Irrigation Minister Jam Khan Shoro has said that India is plotting a deep conspiracy to breach the Indus Water Treaty, which could prove disastrous for the region’s peace.

Addressing an important and urgent press Conference here at the Hyderabad Press Club, the Irrigation Minister said that in 1947, the water of the newborn country was stopped by using water as a weapon. The Indus River is named after Sindh, and the Indus River also has a sacred status for Hindus.

Shoro said that India is making continuous and deep conspiracies to unilaterally break the Indus Waters Treaty, which could prove hazardous for the peace of the region.

The minister said that immediately after independence in 1947, water was used as a political weapon and a nefarious attempt was made to stop the water of a newborn country like Pakistan.

He said that at that time, by stopping the water, the enemy was fully convinced that this country would not be able to run, but the people of Pakistan and the powerful circles averted such conspiracies.

He said that the biggest problem at this moment is India’s non-compliance with the Indus Water Treaty (Indus Basin Agreement), which is highly deplorable.

If the water on which our lands are settled is diverted, it will be a declaration of war.

He said that we will not just sit and look at the United Nations when water is stopped, as India has unilaterally stopped all correspondence related to water. The time to beg the world is over; there will be no compromise on water now.

Water is already scarce due to climate change; now there is talk of snatching away the remaining water.

The most deadly and direct impact of this artificial shortage of water is on the Indus Delta.

Chiniot: Jamia Muhammadi Sharif on Saturday celebrated its 96th Foundation Day in a ceremony marked by religious devotion and academic reflection, with scholars, teachers, students, community leaders and supporters gathering to commemorate the institution’s long-standing contribution to religious education and spiritual training.

The event was presided over by Jamia President Sahibzada Hafiz Muhammad Qamar-ul-Haq Ziaiya Sialvi, who highlighted the institution’s achievements over the past year in the fields of religious education, training and organizational development. In his address, he reaffirmed the university’s commitment to expanding its educational activities and thanked teachers, workers and supporters for their continued dedication.

Looking ahead, the Jamia president announced plans to accelerate preparations for the institution’s 100th anniversary, due in four years. He called for comprehensive planning to showcase the seminary’s century-long contribution to religious education and national service, saying the centenary should become a landmark event reflecting its legacy and future vision.

The ceremony concluded with special prayers for the founders of Jamia Muhammadi Sharif, the continued progress of the institution, peace and security in Pakistan, and the promotion of Islamic values.

Rawalpindi: Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) conducted seven intelligence-based operations across country, arresting eight drugs suppliers, including a woman, and recovering 45.5 kilograms of narcotics with an estimated value of more than Rs6.5 million.

According to an ANF spokesperson, two operations targeted attempts to smuggle drugs abroad through courier services in Karachi. At a courier office in the Federal B Area, officials recovered 4 kg of crystal meth (ice) concealed inside children’s clothing in a parcel destined for Bahrain.

In another operation at a courier office in Saddar, 6.3 kg of ice, soaked into men’s garments, were seized from a parcel also bound for Bahrain.

In a domestic interdiction operation near Bhakkar Road in Jhang district, ANF personnel recovered 5 kg of ice from a vehicle and arrested the supplier.

Meanwhile, four inter-provincial operations resulted in the seizure of significant quantities of narcotics. Near Sher Shah Toll Plaza in Multan, authorities recovered 14.4 kg of hashish from a vehicle and arrested two drug pushers.

In Peshawar, 5 kg of hashish were seized from a suspect near Custom Chowk.

In Lahore, ANF conducted two separate operations near Kanal Road, and officials recovered 4.8 kilograms of hashish from two suspects travelling in a rickshaw. In another raid near a mosque on McLeod Road, authorities arrested a woman after recovering 3.6 kilograms of hashish and 2.4 kg of opium from her possession.

ANF said cases have been registered against all the arrested suspects under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act (CNSA), 1997 and further investigations are underway.

Abbottabad: Commissioner Hazara Division Fayyaz Ali Shah chaired a meeting to review concerns raised by the Galiyat Hotel Association over the issuance of signboard and billboard tax notices by the Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) Abbottabad in areas notified under the jurisdiction of the Galiyat Development Authority (GDA).

The meeting was attended by GDA Director General Muhammad Fawad, Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad Sarmad Saleem Akram, the Assistant Commissioner, the Tehsil Municipal Officer (TMO) Abbottabad and other relevant officials. Representatives of the TMA and GDA presented their respective legal positions regarding the matter.

After hearing both sides, the meeting agreed that any legal ambiguity or jurisdictional dispute between the two institutions would be resolved in accordance with the applicable laws and the relevant legal framework to ensure that the business community, particularly the Galiyat Hotel Association, does not face unnecessary difficulties.

The meeting decided that a formal communication would be sent to the provincial government seeking a permanent legal solution. It was agreed to request the government to obtain a legal opinion from the Law Department to settle the matter, prevent similar disputes in the future and provide clear guidance regarding the jurisdiction and powers of the concerned institutions.
