Dera ismail khan: Rescue 1122 Lakki Marwat has been placed on high alert to effectively respond to the ongoing monsoon spell and the possibility of flooding across the district.

Acting on the directives of District Emergency Officer Bilal Afridi, temporary water rescue points have been established and fully activated in vulnerable and low-lying areas to ensure prompt emergency response.

According to Rescue 1122 officials, the water rescue points have been equipped with trained personnel, rescue boats, life jackets, rescue ropes, and other essential emergency equipment.

The arrangements are aimed at providing immediate assistance to people who may become stranded due to flash floods, rising water levels, or other water-related emergencies.

Rescue 1122 has urged residents to avoid visiting rivers, streams, and flood channels during heavy rains, keep a close watch on children, and immediately contact the emergency helpline 1122 in the event of any emergency.

He said the service was utilizing all available resources to safeguard lives and property during the current monsoon season and remains fully prepared to deal with any emergency situation.

Faisalabad: Police have busted a two-member dacoit gang and recovered looted property from their possession. According to the police spokesperson here Friday, the Peoples colony police team raided and arrested Wajid Hussain and Adeel.

Police recovered 1 motorcycle, cell phones and cash from their possession. During interrogation, the accused confessed to committing various crimes in the police limits. Legal action has been initiated against criminals, said police.

Dera ismail khan: As part of the ongoing police martyrs’ week activities, traffic DSP Chan Shah and traffic In-charge Akhtar Munir visited the graves of police martyrs and paid tribute here on Monday.

According to the police spokesman, the officers offered Fateha and prayed for the elevation of the martyrs’ ranks.

Later, the officers visited the residence of martyred police official Shaukat Maken, where they met his family members, inquired about their well-being, and presented gifts to the martyr’s children as a gesture of care and solidarity.

Speaking on the occasion, DSP Chan Shah said that police martyrs were the pride of the nation, whose unmatched sacrifices would always be remembered with honour and respect.

He said that the welfare and support of the families of martyrs remained one of the police department’s foremost responsibilities.

The visit concluded with special prayers for the eternal peace of martyr Shaukat Maken, patience and strength for his family, and lasting peace and stability across the country.

Sialkot: The Municipal Corporation Sialkot has sealed 11 dangerous and dilapidated buildings during a citywide safety drive launched on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Awais Mushtaq to protect lives and property during the ongoing monsoon season.

According to a spokesperson for the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, the campaign is aimed at preventing accidents caused by unsafe structures during heavy rains. Chief Officer Municipal Corporation Sialkot Zubair Wattoo said building and enforcement inspectors had carried out inspections in different parts of the city and sealed 11 hazardous buildings.

He said the owners had been directed to safely demolish the unsafe buildings within the stipulated period. He warned that if they failed to comply, the Municipal Corporation would demolish the structures under the law and recover the cost from the owners.

The chief officer said the operation was being conducted under the Punjab Local Government Act, 2025, adding that the identification of other dangerous buildings and legal action against them would continue across the city.

He appealed to citizens to avoid living in or unnecessarily visiting dilapidated buildings during the rainy season and to immediately report any unsafe structure to the Municipal Corporation so prompt action could be taken. He said public cooperation was essential for safeguarding lives and property.

Sargodha: Sargodha received a second spell of rainfall during the past 18 hours, bringing the city’s cumulative rainfall to 80 millimeters, while the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) continued extensive drainage operations across the city.

According to a district administration spokesperson on Friday, acting on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Hussain Ahmed Raza Chaudhry, WASA field staff remained fully active throughout the rainfall, ensuring the prompt removal of rainwater from low-lying areas. Alongside the city’s disposal stations, heavy-duty pumps have been deployed to speed up water drainage in various localities.

Managing Director WASA Abu Bakar Imran said continuous monitoring of disposal stations was underway. He added that alternative arrangements had also been put in place to ensure uninterrupted operations in the event of electricity outages.

He further said that the 1.5-million-gallon underground storage tank at Company Bagh had been made fully operational, while the 1-million-gallon underground storage tank at Rehmat-ul-Lil-Alameen Park had also been brought into service to support the drainage system.

Deputy Commissioner Hussain Ahmed Raza Chaudhry urged citizens to exercise maximum caution during the rainy weather. He advised residents to stay away from electric poles and overhead power lines, avoid dilapidated buildings, weak walls and unsafe rooftops, and ensure that children do not play or bathe in accumulated rainwater.

Hyderabad: Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad Division, Shahmeer Khan Bhutto, accompanied by Chief Engineer Sukkur Left Bank, Ghulam Mujtaba Dhamrah, here on Friday conducted a detailed inspection of the protective embankments along Indus River passing through the limits of District Shaheed Benazirabad.

He inspected the current condition of the embankments, their structural strength, and the arrangements made to deal with any potential flood situation. During visit, officials of Irrigation Department gave Commissioner a detailed briefing on the condition of the protective embankments, vulnerable locations, flow of water in Indus River, and precautionary measures taken in view of the ongoing monsoon season.

Inspecting various sections of the embankments, Commissioner directed concerned officers to ensure continuous monitoring of the flood protection structures in light of Meteorological Department’s forecast of heavy rains and the prevailing flood situation in Punjab. He instructed that any weak points identified should be repaired and strengthened immediately to effectively cope with any emergency.

The Commissioner said that protection of human lives, property, and agricultural land was the government’s top priority. He emphasized that all concerned departments must remain fully prepared to discharge their responsibilities. He further directed that round-the-clock surveillance of protective embankments be maintained throughout the monsoon season and that all necessary machinery, manpower, and flood response equipment should be remained ready at all times to ensure a prompt response to any emergency.

The visit was also attended by Superintending Engineer Rohri Canal Atta Muhammad Chhajro, Executive Engineer Dad Division Bilawal Hussain Laghari, SDO Sakrand Bund Tejal Atta Chandio, Assistant Commissioner Sakrand Rameez Raja, and other concerned officials.
