Health Department orders verification of all residents in student hostels


Lahore: The Punjab Health Department has directed medical institutions across the province to ensure the security and proper use of student hostels and other residential facilities.



In a letter issued to Vice Chancellors, Principals, Deans, Executive Directors and Medical Superintendents on Sunday, the Health Department directed the administrations to immediately verify all individuals residing in their respective hostels.



The department has also requested the Special Branch to verify the number of people residing in all student hostels.



According to the directive, student hostels and other residential facilities must be strictly used only by students and staff who have been legally and properly allotted accommodation.



The management of every institution has been directed to immediately verify all hostel residents and ensure that no unauthorized person is staying in or using any hostel or residential facility.



The Health Department warned that involvement in any illegal activity would be dealt with strictly. Action would also be taken against all concerned persons, including those responsible for supervision and administrative matters.



The department directed all institutions to submit a compliance report by Monday, August 24, 2026, and declared the matter ‘Most Urgent’.
