Attock: Police on Thursday arrested 24 workers affiliated with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) near the Hazro-Chhachh Interchange in Attock district, alleging their involvement in blocking a road, obstructing public officials, and attacking police personnel during a protest.
According to police, all the arrested individuals are residents of Mansehra and Haripur districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Officials claimed that some protesters tore police uniforms, attempted to damage government property, and disrupted traffic, which was later restored after police dispersed the demonstrators.
Police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the suspects under Sections 341, 186, 353, 188, 148, 149, and 505 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC). Authorities said investigations are underway to determine the role of each suspect and that further legal action will be taken in accordance with the law.
Meanwhile, PTI leaders rejected the allegations, asserting that the arrested workers were travelling peacefully on the motorway to attend a party public meeting in Peshawar. They denied any involvement in unlawful activity and demanded the immediate release of the detained workers.
