37 cops suspended over corruption


Lahore: Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Investigation Syed Zeeshan Raza



ordered the suspension of 37 officials over alleged involvement in corruption.



According to a spokesman, the suspended officials include 11 sub-inspectors, 14 assistant sub-inspectors (ASIs), six head constables and six constables.



The officials were serving at different police stations and strict departmental as well as legal proceedings have been initiated against them, the DIG said.



He said that an effective mechanism of self-accountability was in place in the police department to ensure transparency and discipline.



Zeeshan Raza said that the crackdown against corruption would continue and the department had adopted a zero-tolerance policy against corrupt practices.
