Lahore: The Suthra Punjab Anti-Littering Squad has intensified its field activities across the city, conducting awareness campaigns in major commercial markets and along key roads to promote cleanliness and discourage littering.
Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) Chief Executive Officer Shehryar Arif Khan said the squad was conducting regular patrols across all towns of the city to ensure cleanliness standards were
maintained, said a press release issued here on Monday.
He said the Anti-Littering Squad had been deployed in day and night shifts to promote the message
of Suthra Punjab and create awareness among citizens and the business community about their responsibility to keep the city clean.
As part of the campaign, awareness activities were conducted at markets along Khayaban-e-Jinnah, Ring Road, Firdous Chowk and Farukh Abad.
The squad also remained active at Children’s Hospital, Kalma Chowk, Pindi Stop, Model Town Kachehri, Kot Lakhpat Road and Faisal Town.
The CEO said shopkeepers in commercial markets were being sensitised against throwing waste outside their shops and were being directed to place dustbins outside their premises to maintain cleanliness.
He added that citizens were also being informed about action and fines against those found littering in public places.
Awareness activities were also organized at Outfall Road, Bund Road, Sagian-Shahdara Morr and the Flower Market.
The LWMC CEO said the activities aimed to encourage citizens and the business community to play their role in maintaining cleanliness and making Lahore a cleaner city.
